Responsibilities
The Role…
The People Operations Manager is responsible for compensation practices, reporting & analytics, compliance and overall support of the people operations function. This is a new role so you will have the opportunity to help expand, innovate and be an integral part of the success of a growing people-centric company working on the complexities of our People operations functions as we scale.
The position will be based out of our 60,000 sq. foot, modern Emeryville, California office. WE ARE A CULTURE OF PERSONAL CONNECTON, WHICH IS WHY WE’VE CHOSEN A PERMANENT HYBRID WORK ENVIRONMENT WITH NORMS THAT EQUATE TO 2-3 DAYS MID-WEEK IN THE OFFICE FOR EMPLOYEES BASED IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. The expected pay scale for this role is $115k to $125k, which may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications, geographic area (if applicable), and internal equity for the role.

Shaping our culture and the employee experience through supporting the management of our compensation and equity programs, which enable us to attract and retain our amazing team. The People Operations Manager will work alongside our team to establish compensation analytics, supporting the design, development and evaluation of the overall compensation philosophy, program, a variety of initiatives to continue to build a strong employee experience strategy. Compensation: 45% of Time
- Perform yearly market competitive analysis to assess the effectiveness of our compensation program as a competitive advantage
- Analyze internal and external market data to recommend appropriate competitive compensation range for roles
- Research and pull insights to recommend compensation changes due to promotions, market adjustments, annual merit cycle, and for new hire offer terms
- Administration of LTIP (long term incentive) program
- Assess all jobs and their respective duties to determine salary grade and classification
- Conduct ongoing research on compensation trends within the applicable local job market and industry, staying abreast of applicable regulations, compensation policies and best practices
- Build compensation systems to automate our compensation management process
- Special projects, such as a review and analysis of trending pay practices
- Independently evaluate and approve listings, reclassifications and pay actions; conduct job audits and make recommendations. Partner with other People team members on various activities such as job listing reviews, reclassifications, salary issues, classification practices.
Reports & Analytics: 20% of Time
- Conduct ongoing reports/dashboards of our population, including DEIB, hiring metrics, bonus calculation and turnover/attrition at-a-glance reports to reflect year to date and ongoing metrics
- Extract, compile and share out information for annual salary planning reports, that include key employee metrics as well as external market data, for leader’s recommendations during annual salary planning cycle
- Ongoing and ad hoc report needs to support People team
- Analyze data and statistics for trends and patterns to advise and make recommendations on
- Create dashboards and consistent reporting to share with leaders on regular basis
Compliance and Immigration administrative support: 15% of Time
- Coordination, reporting and submission of annual AAP report
- Administer and track annual sign off of code of conduct and required training courses as applicable to specific employee populations; coordinate facilitation of instructor led required training
- Track and process all immigration cases in partnership with immigration attorney
- Timely preparation of filing, postings and data gathering as required per various work authorization requirements
People operations: 20% of Time
- Backup HRIS and Payroll processing for HR Generalist
- Ongoing assistance with the daily business of the People team, including ad hoc work projects
The daily stuff that everyone does but few quantify:
- Attending meetings and presentations
- Participating in company-wide activities and events galore
- Impromptu conversations with colleagues
- Administrivia like email, calendaring, expense reports, and other non-value-added work
Qualifications
What are we looking for?
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- CCP or other relevant certification a bonus
Experience:
- 3-5 years of related experience, with a focus on compensation preferred
- Experience with variety of HRIS systems a plus
- Experience and ability to adapt quickly and be nimble in crunch times
- Experience with large datasets to maintain accuracy and ability to summarize data to support our decisions
- Experience evaluating and managing online salary management tools
- Experience in all people operations disciplines, particularly compensation, analytics, compliance or HR generalist with a high aptitude for analytics and strong understanding of compensation preferred
Skills:
- Demonstrated Excel “super user”- advanced level using complex data sheets
- Report writing expertise
- Ability to thoughtfully answer challenging compensation questions, and connect with a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated team player who wants to be an integral piece of a growing People team
