Performance Engineering Trainee

The Performance Engineer Trainee provides engineering support for campus utility systems which include chilled water, steam, power generation and water treatment plants along with steam, condensate, heating hot water and natural gas distribution systems. This role can function as performance engineer or mechanical engineer. This position is located in Boston, MA and will report to the Performance Engineer.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide engineering support for campus utility systems which include chilled water, steam, power generation and water treatment plants along with steam, condensate, heating hot water and natural gas distribution systems
  • Responsible for project definition and management of mechanical equipment replacement such as boilers, piping systems, superheated steam systems, heat exchangers, chillers, cooling towers and pumps
  • Project duties can include reviewing and commenting on-campus infrastructure and asset documents, management, reviewing submittals, maintaining project files, recording drawings, and equipment documentation
  • You will be responsible for project definition and management of mechanical equipment replacement such as boilers, piping systems, superheated steam systems, heat exchangers, chillers, cooling towers and pumps

What you bring:

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelors’ Degree in Energy Systems Engineering or related degree
  • High attention to detail and level of organization
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Must have an understanding of the engineering principles in the MEP disciplines he/she is designing
  • Studying in Energy or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Experience in applying for computer programs, mechanical engineering software, AutoCAD, MS Word and MS Excel
  • Analysis and report writing experience of utility equipment efficiency, performance, and project justification
  • Collaborative approach to task and milestone achievement
  • At least forty hours of consistently-scheduled availability within standard working hours (7:30am – 4pm) in Eastern Standard time, Monday – Friday. Exact hours are negotiable This role can function as performance engineer or mechanical engineer

  • Salary Range: $20 – $30 USD hourly
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
