Personal Training Manager

The Personal Training Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Personal Trainers. This position is responsible for overseeing the Sports Performance Department through personal training, team training, and small group training sales.

Starting salary range: $45,000-55,000

NOTE: Because this position will involve routine interaction with children, all candidates must successfully obtain the following clearances PRIOR to beginning employment:

  1. PA State Police criminal history record,
  2. PA Child Abuse Clearance, and
  3. FBI Fingerprint-based criminal history clearance.

Essential Job Functions

  • Recruit, hire, and train personal trainers.
  • Determine and implement strategies to ensure the personal training team meets productivity goals.
  • Work closely with the Membership Team to schedule and implement strategy sessions and properly onboard new members.
  • Guarantee solid floor trainer service to our members.
  • Provide continual development of the personal training staff through sales and technique development.
  • Ensure facility cleanliness and tidiness by training all team members to take responsibility in facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Responsible for member retention through outstanding training performance and effective communication
  • Complete all administrative, scheduling and payroll tasks for programs and lessons.
  • Network with outside organizations to build team training and membership-based programs.
  • Update and manage the Nook’s Sports Performance social media presence
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years Personal Training Sales experience with demonstrated success rate
  • Must hold a current nationally accredited personal training certification (example: ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM, or NSPA)
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Must have a motivating personality with passion for helping others, self-improvement, a professional and polite appearance and demeanor
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have dependable transportation to and from work
  • Language skills: Fluent knowledge of the English language; including the ability to read and interpret written information and speak and understand verbal communication
  • Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the position with any reasonable accommodations as necessary
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • A. or B.S. in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field
  • Master’s degree, with an emphasis in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology
  • 2+ years management experience with demonstrated success rate
  • Sports background (college, semi-pro or former professional)
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Guest-focused/service-oriented; ability to see big picture and impact on Company. Supports Company mission as serves as an advocate for its products and services
  • Demonstrates a positive and friendly attitude towards guests, customers, and fellow employees. Exhibits a respectful, professional demeanor

  • Ability to recruit, hire and develop successful sports performance training staff per company expectations.
  • Ability to create revenue projections for programs and activities and manage expenses.
  • Experience with social media

Working Conditions

  • Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to perform physical activity that includes moving about the work area, standing, sitting, bending, reaching with hands and arms, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing and smelling. The team member will be frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. He or she is required to have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
