The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Real Time Software Engineer to join the Phantom Works Weapons software team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

This software engineer will work with a multifaceted engineering team to design, develop, and deploy operational flight software on weapon systems. The selected engineer will perform software activities in all phases of the software development lifecycle to implement real-time embedded software applications for weapons management. The position requires experience with the agile processes and lifecycle management.

The Weapons software team develops and maintains the software and other real-time embedded software products that fulfill the mission processing functionality of the weapon systems. The software is written in C++ with an emphasis on open architectures and the team performs development using the agile methodology.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline engineering team to build and implement software solutions.
  • Contribute in all phases of the software development lifecycle in an Agile development environment.
  • Perform requirements development and interface definitions
  • Perform software architecture trade studies and modifications to meet new requirements.
  • Develop solutions using C++.
  • Test your software and assist system level testing to verify accurate software functionality.
  • Analyze problem reports and solving software defects.
  • Develop leadership skills and experience.
  • Perform guiding and mentorship of junior software engineers

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
  • 2+ years of experience with developing C++ software
  • Experience in real-time embedded software development
  • Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
  • Experience with Git or a similar version control system.
  • Experience developing and tracing software requirements.
  • Experience with Open Architectures.
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems.
  • Experience with Linux development.
  • Experience with DDS .
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture.
  • Experience developing software lifecycle products for interfaces
  • Experience testing of all CSCI including automated and manual testing

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in computer science, computer engineering, engineering, mathematics, or physics (e.g. Bachelor) and 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master).
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range: $85,000 – $115,000
