Description
General Description: The primary objective of this position is to work with the Director of Philanthropy to secure resources (food, time, money, and voice) from a portfolio of 150 qualified individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations. The Philanthropy Manager may also be involved as a team lead for numerous special events, tours and presentations, food & fund drives, cause related marketing, 3rd party events, and other special promotions as assigned by the Director of Philanthropy or Chief Sustainability Officer.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the comprehensive manager for the constituents in this portfolio including prospect research, cultivation, solicitations, and stewardship.
- Develop relationships and make solicitations for philanthropic gifts, cause-related marketing, food & fund drives, third party events, in-kind donations, sponsorships, volunteer hours, and other engagement strategies.
- Develop and maintain an Engagement Plan for all areas of responsibility, including both short and long-range goals and objectives, and then work the plan.
- Maintain complete engagement within the San Antonio Food Bank Salesforce database, keeping records up to date at all times, and utilizing tasks to develop manager portfolio.
- Responsible for an ongoing thank you program to acknowledge and recognize donors through thank you letters and other appropriate means.
- Provide status reports each week to the Director of Philanthropy.
- Support all Philanthropy events that raise both money and food which includes San Antonio Food Bank signature special events, food & fund drives, third party events, cause-related marketing campaigns, and special promotions that have been approved by the Director of Philanthropy and the Chief Sustainability Officer.
- Personal face-to-face presentations and/or tours for employee groups, service organizations, religious groups, and others, as directed by Director of Philanthropy and Chief Sustainability Officer (e.g., United Way campaign presentations).
- Represent the San Antonio Food Bank at a variety of functions within the community. Comply with and abide by all personnel policies and accept additional duties as assigned by the Director of Philanthropy.
- Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity and teamwork.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Three to five years development experience or relevant work experience.
- Work experience in fund development and marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Skills in computer applications i.e., word processing and spreadsheet/database management.
- Good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to organize work, time, and self.
- Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
- Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
- Ability to supervise others and delegate appropriate tasks.
- Night and weekend work is required and routine.
- Personal vehicle is required.

Work Environment
This job is performed in an indoor office environment and occasionally may require attendance at outdoor events. You may be required to drive to different locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
