Duties and Responsibilities:
- Seeking qualified candidates to teach curriculum physics courses in both the University Transfer and Associate in Applied Science degree areas.
- Courses will include, but are not limited to, Conceptual Physics & Conceptual Physics Lab, Physics-Mechanics, College Physics I & II, and General Physics I & II.
- Other tasks will include developing course plans, assignments, and tests; identifying and assessing student learning outcomes; teaching according to the college load formula; advising university transfer students; attending faculty meetings; serving on college committees; and carrying out other duties as assigned by the college.
- Work hours may include day, evening, and weekend hours.
- Classes may be seated, hybrid, or online. Seated and hybrid classes may be located on ACC’s campus or at local high schools.
- This position will begin in January 2024.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required: Master’s degree in physics, or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate credit hours in physics. Degrees and coursework must be from a regionally-accredited institution. A minimum of two years full-time teaching experience is required. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, students, and others.
Preference will be given to applicants with community college or university teaching experience in physics, and to applicants with experience working with online course management systems (such as Moodle) and online homework management systems (such as MyLab & Mastering).
