Overview
The Crew Leader – Landscape provides lead worker assistance and direction for a large crew performing general landscape maintenance and care tasks.
Essential Functions
1 Organizes, prepares, and issues daily work assignments for crewmembers or other lower level crew leaders; ensures work procedures are followed safely and efficiently and work is completed properly; compiles and identifies landscaping maintenance and repair needs and prioritizes assignments.
2 Works, engages, and collaborates with lower level crew leaders or along with crewmembers; sets the pace of work and delegates appropriate assignments; provides on-site job and safety training and explains or demonstrates proper, safe, and efficient work methods; obtains required information or decisions from supervisors as needed.
3 Ensures all plans, materials, tools, equipment, and supplies are available for crewmembers; keeps, maintains, organizes and reports records of expenses, work orders, schedules, and attendance of daily activities.
4 Performs or leads preventative maintenance and minor repairs to equipment; checks for cleanliness of tools and equipment; oversees care and use of lawnmowers, edgers, trimmers, and other landscaping tools.
5 Inspects and monitors landscaping work done and ensures all work orders are handled with efficiency and timeliness; participates in emergency situations and provides lead level direction.
6 Drives City trucks to transport workers, materials, and equipment to and from jobsite.
7 Handles citizen complaints or concerns to facilitate prompt and efficient solutions; interacts with community and provides excellent customer service.
8 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledge of landscaping and related specialized equipment.
2 Ability to receive and transmit to crewmembers oral and written instructions.
3 Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures
4 Knowledge of landscaping tools, equipment, supplies, or materials.
5 Ability to perform math calculations; read charts and maintain written records.
6 Ability to lead crewmembers in the performance of a variety of heavy manual labor for extended periods.
7 Establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
8 Communicating orally and in writing.
Experience
4 years experience performing general maintenance or landscaping labor.
Licenses and Certifications
CDL – Group B – Commercial Drivers License
Education
High School Diploma, GED
