This is a paid internship, range of $19/hr – $22/hr (depending on role and qualifications) for those currently pursuing undergraduate degrees and higher rates for those currently pursuing graduate level degrees.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
he Sound Transit Video Production internship is an opportunity to be immersed in communications for a major public transportation agency. We deliver vital information, produce beautiful visuals, and tell engaging stories that leave the public more informed and engaged. The position sits within the Communications, Marketing and Engagement department, which supports marketing campaigns, social and digital media, promotions and partnerships, special events, customer outreach initiatives, and graphic and video asset production. The intern in this position will join the video production team focusing on shooting videos, photos, and content creation for the Sound Transit social media channels. This position will also serve as a backup for the agency’s primary still photographer. With both disciplines, the intern will be able to document the agency’s success as we transform public transit in our region. This position will primarily produce content for external audiences but might be called on to assist with projects for internal communications.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB DUTIES:
- Familiarity with principles and practices of video production and still photography.
- Editing experience with Adobe Suite products; Specifically Premiere Pro and Lightroom.
- Background using Canon R series or similar level mirrorless camera system.
- Understanding of field audio gathering techniques and lighting.
- Interest in communications/marketing, public policy, and transportation.
- Experience with social media; Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter.
- Interest in drones and aerial photography
- Comfortable working outside of a hybrid office environment with members of the public, on construction sites and in operational maintenance facilities.
- Strong interpersonal techniques in-person, by telephone and via e-mail and a consistent commitment and ability to work with diverse groups and individuals.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and to work on multiple project teams and subjects simultaneously.
- Willingness when needed to work night and weekend hours.
- Comfort traveling via mass transit.
- Access to a cell phone with high quality camera.
POTENTIAL PROJECTS:
- Weekly deliverables to agency’s social media team:
- Vertically filmed Instagram reels.
- Still pictures.
- 16:9 Video.
- Instagram/Facebook live video feeds when required.
- Other projects and concepts as directed.
- Assist video production team on larger scale shoots.
- Fills in for agency still photographer or acts as second camera for larger events.
- Edits still pictures and video assets as needed.
- Assists with successful live video coverage of agency board of directors’ meetings.
- Travels to non-office environments to film Sound Transit facilities, staff and riders.
- If qualified: opportunities for animation-based projects utilizing After Effects.
- Assist with digital asset management. Cataloging, keywording, and backing up files.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be a current college student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor’s or graduate degree program in Video Production, Communications, Broadcast Journalism, or other non-technical discipline or relevant two-year certificate.
