Police Quartermaster/Supply Manager
JOB TITLE: Police Quartermaster/Supply Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Police Department
SUPERVISOR: Police Chief
SALARY: $35,083 to $42,099 per year
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Under direct supervision, the quartermaster orders, maintains the inventory, keeps track of logistics and updates the inventory, analyzes supplier performance to resolve supply chain issues and ensures suppliers meet quality and time requirements, for the Police Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Quartermaster
- Purchases, maintains the inventory, and issues supplies, equipment, and uniforms for the Police Department.
- Maintains records, logs, and documentation of purchases, costs, deliveries, quality control and/or performance issues, and current inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Maintains records, logs, and a database of equipment, supplies, uniforms, and related items issued to individual Department members and to vehicles.
- Maintains database of Department body armor and schedules replacement within expiration dates.
- Researches, applies for, and monitors grant funding for body armor replacement.
- Manages the maintenance of Department equipment, whether maintenance or repairs are completed in house or through a vendor.
- Supervises disposal of outdated and/or surplus equipment.
- Prepares. Documents, and files damage and/or restitution claims for Department equipment, and uniforms.
- Reviews bid proposals, research, and negotiates pricing and contracts in compliance with Department budget and City purchasing rules.
- Reviews and approves invoices for payment.
- Maintains confidentiality of information and records.
Radio and Police Video Camera Manager
- Purchases, maintains the inventory, and issues supplies related to mobile and portable radios.
- Purchases, maintains the inventory, and issues supplies related to body worn and in-car camera video recording systems.
- Maintains records, logs, and documentation of purchases, costs, deliveries, quality control and/or performance issues, and current inventory of both radios and video recording systems.
- Manages the maintenance and updates of radios and video recording systems, whether updates, maintenance or repairs are completed in house or through a vendor.
- Researches, applies for, and monitors grant funding for radios and video recording systems.
- Supervises disposal of outdated and/or surplus equipment.
- Prepares, documents, and files damage and/or restitution claims for Department radios and video equipment.
- Reviews bid proposals, research, and negotiated pricing and contracts in compliance with Department budget and City purchasing rules.
- Reviews and approves invoices for payment.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

- Operate office equipment including a personal computer and job-related software applications.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required:
High school diploma or GED and some supply or inventory experience.
Preferred:
Some law enforcement experience.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds with assistance. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
