Stanford University is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 to perform basic functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct and analyze research.
Duties include:
- Contribute on study design and independently write research protocols.
- Independently conduct the research projects including re-structure and mining of large health care claims data and implement data analysis through statistical programming; Summarize findings in written form using graphs and tables.
- Interpret and analyze results, often where few guidelines exist, and make modifications to existing protocols in collaboration with principal and co-investigators.
- Perform ongoing literature review to remain current with new related research and apply learning to ongoing research.
- Contribute substantively to the preparation of papers for publication, especially in the result section, and to publication of findings. Present ongoing work at academic conferences.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in population health science field; Experience in analyzing large healthcare claim data; Skills in descriptive analysis of healthcare data; Skills in statistical programming in R and Phyton; Excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities; High level of independence in scientific work; Good communication and writing skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (DESIRED):
Doctoral degree in public health or population health science or Master’s degree in public health or population health science with 2 year experience in large health care claim data analyses

Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field.

- General understanding of scientific principles. Demonstrated performance to use knowledge and skills when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge of science principals to problem solve work.
- Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
- General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications.
- Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
- Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, seated work for long periods of time with extensive dexterity.
- Occasionally stand, walk and write by hand.
- Position may require repetitive motion.

The expected pay range for this position is $53,000 to $76,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
