PR/External Communications Senior Consultant – Deloitte Digital
The Deloitte Consulting Marketing and Comms Team is looking for an external comms/PR specialist to execute integrated external communications activities in support of our Deloitte Digital business. In this role, you will help elevate the Deloitte Digital brand and position the creative and innovative work we do with leading brands. The ideal candidate must be able to effectively and simultaneously serve as a trusted communications advisor for senior leadership, a public relations strategist, and a collaborator/team player with other firm communications professionals, external agencies and partners.
This external comms professional will work closely with multiple teams across the consulting business as well as other marketers and internal communications team members to advance business goals and marketing and communication priorities. This position reports to the Customer & Marketing/Deloitte Digital PR leader.
The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, navigate a complex matrix of teams and stakeholders, and be an efficient and effective problem solver. In addition, the candidate must have an operational mindset and be able to work at both a strategic and tactical level, build key relationships with multiple teams, influence executive leadership and have the ability to produce high-level communications across the board.
A background in creative agency, B2B, and innovative work with leading consumer brands is a plus.
What you’ll do
- In collaboration with the Customer & Marketing/Deloitte Digital PR leader:
- Serve as a strategic trusted external communications advisor to leadership, business, marketing and other key stakeholders across the practice
- Develop integrated external communications strategies focused on key business priorities, and executing strategies and plans across priority campaigns to build Deloitte’s brand in the marketplace
- Build and/or strengthen key reporter relationships, staying current on relevant news outlets, reporters and their areas of focus; and proactively pitching Deloitte leaders, thought leadership, and client impact stories
- Write and develop press releases, blog posts and pitches and supporting leaders in their media interviews with key messages and talking points
- Use metrics and analytics to build business cases and provide insights and counsel to internal stakeholders, including analyzing performance against metrics to adjust approaches in an agile fashion
- Assist in managing external public relations agencies, including partnering with agencies to surface new ideas that push the bounds of our efforts to date; agency responsibilities to also include managing budgets, reviewing monthly reporting and ensuring delivery aligned with defined KPIs
- Drive and support execution of and innovation across all areas and channels of communication and storytelling from messaging to new platforms and analytical tools
- Contribute to and adopt insights-driven standards for communications that champion measurement, collaboration and continuous growth.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of prior, relevant communications experience required
- Undergraduate degree, ideally with a focus in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, English or a related business field
- Agency experience or close collaboration with an agency preferred
- Experience in B2B industries
Preferred:
- Proven success in developing and executing external communications strategies and communications plans for a large B2B business, preferably in professional services
- Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship development skills
- Executive presence and the ability to confidently provide strategic counsel, ask good questions, challenge the status quo, suggest alternatives, and articulate pros and cons to senior business leaders
- Ability to handle ambiguity and fluid priorities, gain consensus through influence, and change course efficiently and effectively, as needed, within a highly-matrixed, global organization
- Strong social media skills and experience as it relates to professional and executive brand building
- Superior Microsoft Office skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as social media platforms and tools

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $85,000 – $173,000.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance
