Description

Walters Wedding Estates, a Walters Hospitality brand, is actively looking for a Prepress Specialist who is detail oriented with a strong attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

OVERVIEW:

The Prepress Specialist plays a critical role by ensuring that digital files and artwork are prepared and optimized for high-quality printing. They work closely with our graphic designers to ensure that the final printed materials meet the required standards and specifications. The Prepress Specialist is responsible for reviewing, editing, and enhancing digital files, as well as troubleshooting and resolving any technical issues that may arise during the prepress process.

LOCATION: Remote

HOURS: Part-time / Full-time available

PAY RATE: $17 – $25 / hour depending on experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

File Preparations: Receive and review digital files from graphic designers or clients and prepare them for printing. Ensure that the files are correctly formatted, color-corrected, and meet the necessary specifications for the printing process.

Image Editing: Use various software tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator) to edit and manipulate images to achieve the desired print quality and consistency.

Color Management: Ensure accurate color reproduction by calibrating and maintaining color profiles for output devices, ensuring color consistency across different print runs and materials.

Resolution and Format Checks: Verify that images and graphics have appropriate resolutions and are in the correct file formats suitable for the printing process.

Proofing and Quality Control: Thoroughly examining all aspects of the prepress materials, including layout, text, graphics, color, and resolution, to identify any potential issues or discrepancies. Verifying that all text elements are accurate, properly formatted, and free of typographical errors. Assessing the integrity of digital files to ensure that they are error-free and ready for the printing process.

Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues related to file preparation, color discrepancies, and other prepress challenges that may arise during the printing process.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training or degree in graphic design, printing technology, or related fields is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard prepress software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong understanding of color theory, color management, and image resolution requirements for printing.
  • Knowledge of different printing processes (offset, digital, screen printing) and their specific prepress requirements.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues during the prepress stage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with different stakeholders and provide clear instructions or feedback.
  • Familiarity with different file formats and their appropriate usage in the prepress workflow.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining printing equipment is beneficial but not always required.
