Preschool – Lead, Co-Teacher, & Assistant
The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District is seeking team-oriented individuals with a passion for working with preschool-age children to join our team in our 9-month Preschool Programs.
We offer four distinct and enriching programs:
- at the Tualatin Hills Nature Center: This nature-based preschool integrates environmental education and Creative Curriculum, providing a unique and engaging learning experience.
- at the Fanno Farmhouse: A comprehensive nine-month preschool program inspired by the Reggio Emilia theory of education, fostering creativity and exploration in a nurturing environment.
- at Cedar Hills Recreation Center: An exciting nine-month, curriculum-based program also inspired by the Reggio Emilia theory of education, encouraging children to thrive through hands-on activities and self-expression.
- at Conestoga Recreation Center: Our bilingual program embraces the Reggio Emilia approach to learning in both English and Spanish, promoting language proficiency and multicultural understanding.

We currently have openings for the following positions:
Preschool Lead Teacher:As a Preschool Lead Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in planning and leading the nine-month preschool program. This role involves working independently, developing, coordinating, supervising, and instructing day-to-day activities while providing guidance to part-time staff and volunteers. Ensuring compliance with meal and rest break requirements for direct reports is also part of this fulfilling role.
Pay Rate Range: $23.52 – $26.48
Preschool Co-Teacher:As a Preschool Co-Teacher, you will be responsible for preparing, instructing, and assisting in planning and leading activities for program participants. Staff should be prepared to work indoors and outdoors on uneven surfaces, in various environmental conditions each week.
Pay Rate Range: $17.19 – $18.80
Preschool Assistant: Preschool Assistants support in preparing, instructing, and leading activities for program participants, including potential work in the childcare room. Staff should be ready to work indoors and outdoors on uneven surfaces, and in various environmental conditions each week.
Pay Rate Range: $16.65 – $17.15
We are hiring for part-time year-round positions that may be scheduled 8-29 hours per week, starting in September 2023 and running through May 2024. Hours are typically Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm depending on the program. Part-time employees are scheduled variable hours and may work less than 1,560 hours per year.
