Description
ACES at Helen Doron Academy is seeking a Preschool instructor to provide high quality programming. The instructor is responsible for creating a dual-language (Spanish-English) immersion classroom environment for children ages 3-5. The instructor will be: ensuring the learning and personal growth of every student; establishing effective rapport with students; motivating students to develop skills and to develop a foundation for becoming a responsible citizen in accordance with each pupil’s ability; and establishing good relationships with parents, staff members, and community members.
- The Preschool instructor is accountable to provide appropriate learning experiences for students in Spanish and English. The instructor provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. This includes supervision of students in a variety of school related settings. The instructor will monitor and evaluate student outcomes. The instructor maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices, including appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facility.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a bilingual speaker of Spanish and English: Fluent in speaking, writing, and reading Spanish and English.
A teacher must be 18 years older
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate
Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in early Childhood Development is preferred, but not required
Transcripts required.
Child CPR and First Aid Certification (Preferred).
- Create a safe and nurturing environment where children can play and learn.
- Implement propriety Helen Doron Spanish curriculum to promote language acquisition of Spanish and English.
- Ensure all safety and security protocols are followed.
- Work with staff and students to develop small and large group learning experiences that encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization and decision-making.
- Communicate regularly with parents, sharing children’s achievements through Parent, Square/mobile apps and personal discussions.
- Engage in on-going professional learning opportunities to remain current with early childhood research and best practices.
Physical Demands:
- Must adhere to all CT State guidelines and ACES at Helen Doron policies and procedures regarding immunizations, physical exam, and required health and safety training such as CPR, First Aid, and Administration of Medications, as well as all Covid-19 related guidelines as revised due to pandemic conditions and response.
- Must have the physical ability to participate indoor and outdoor activities that may include lifting, moving or holding children from 20-60 pounds as well as walking, squatting, climbing and sitting on the floor.
- Must be able to maintain mental and physical alertness and respond quickly to emergency situations.
