Prevention Specialist, Substance Use
BHcare is looking to hire a Prevention Specialist, Substance Use. The Prevention Specialist, Substance Use assists in the development and coordination of substance use prevention and mental health promotion, working with schools, community groups and other agencies. May also work with youth, volunteers, assist with administrative tasks, conducts community education / advocacy.
Accountable and responsible for the following results:
- Lead implementation of Ansonia-Derby and East Haven Coalitions as the PFS coordinator to build capacity and achievement of project goals.
- Work closely with the coalition leaders and peer advocates, other personnel and evaluator to ensure that the SPF process is utilized in all work of the coalitions, objectives are met and needed data is collected and reported.
- Manage and facilitate implementation of strategic prevention framework strategies and activities for the two coalitions.
- Conduct outreach and engagement activities.
- Participate in necessary training.
- Participate in regional and statewide initiatives.
- Support sustainability efforts.
- Knowledge of Strategic Prevention Framework, Substance Abuse Prevention, Mental Health Promotion.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.
- May be required to use own vehicle on company business.
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential of this position
- Evening and Weekend hours may be required at times in this position.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in health-related discipline, with documented at least one year of prior experience in substance abuse prevention or similar public health planning models.
- Must be willing to obtain Prevention Specialist certification.
