This position provides direct medical care and education to patients of Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Infection, Early Detection Works, and Refugee Health programs. Provides routine preventive care, orders screening and diagnostic tests, and provides treatment and/or follow up as indicated for abnormal test results. Performs chart audits for quality control and improvement. Responds to Public Health Emergency or Disaster responses as directed by supervisor. Performs work independently under the general direction of a written medical protocol and/or collaborative practice agreement. Maintains professional expertise and current licensure and certification. Maintains confidentiality in all areas of client contact at all times.

Provide direct patient care and education.

  • Conduct medical history and physical exams.
  • Order and interpret screening and/or diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment plan per protocol.
  • Provide health interventions and education to optimize health outcome.
  • Monitor the effectiveness on interventions and make referral when appropriate.
  • Initiate, document, and refer newly diagnosed cases of sexually transmitted infections to the Disease Intervention Specialist.

Ensure accurate data and documentation.

  • Accurately enter the required information on the pharmacy log as documented in medical record.
  • Complete required program data collection forms (DAISEYs) by the end of business day.
  • Participate in monthly chart audit and timely correction of identified errors.
  • Respond timely to internal/external customers’ questions or inquiries.

Ensure success of programs’ goals and objectives.

  • Maintain current license, including tracking and completing continuing education yearly.
  • Support clinic program by working with team members to ensure that programs’ goals and objectives are met.
  • Support Quality Improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. One year of clinical experience in the Nurse Practitioner role. Can be substituted with clinical experience as Nurse Practitioner student. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure; current provider card in Basic Life Support. Employee may deploy to the field as a responder or in a leadership position during public health emergencies (Activation Level 3). Activation Level Requirements for Nurse Practitioner position: Activation Level 3 – Must complete Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) IS 100, 200, and 700 courses within 30 days of employment. Additional trainings may be required.

Preferred Qualifications: Master or Doctoral Degree in Nurse Practitioner program. One year experience in practicing as nurse practitioner in primary care or women’s health field.
