Principal Engineering Manager- Security, Privacy and Compliance

Who are we looking for?

As a Principal Engineering Manager- Security, Privacy and Compliance at Viva Engage, you will have critical accountability for leading Trust efforts, to a fully embrace security, privacy and compliance guidelines while building out critical practices and processes. You will oversee efforts that combine security engineering, privacy and compliance to enable engineering and product team to deliver a large-scale conversation platform that powers Viva experiences. With our origins as a startup but now part of Microsoft, your purview spans from our own tooling and M365 offerings.

You should have a well-established playbook developed through years of experience supporting world-class systems at a huge scale. You should be able to paint a vision of the future and build consensus across the organization while still being able to dive into details. The day-to-day responsibilities include a blend of technical, hands-on leadership with demonstrated people management and partnership skills

Location: This team is located in Mountain view (CA), San francisco (CA) and Redmond (WA). This role is required to be in Mountain view (CA), San francisco (CA) or Redmond (WA).

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience in a Security, Privacy and Compliance focused Engineering role

o OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of people management experience leading security, privacy and compliance engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience working in technology, computer science or engineering.

Software Engineering M5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, develop, grow, and lead a team of engineers. Help develop reliable security, privacy and compliance practices.
  • Plan and drive strategic decisions and feature prioritization in partnership with other key stakeholders.
  • Evangelize trust practices across engineering and product teams.
  • Outline Vision and Strategy for evolving our trust posture
  • Drive accountability across the entire product team with well-defined processes, metrics, and goals. This may include retooling existing rituals and creating new ones.
  • Drive planning, analysis, incident management, audits, and dashboard for system health.
  • Create and foster a culture that drives service excellence.
