ProbablyMonsters is looking for a creative, technical, and collaborative Principal Gameplay Designer. You will join a team focusing on action game play, world building, level design, AI, and character design during the early phases of game development.
We are seeking a Principal Gameplay Designer who has a proven and exceptional ability developing gameplay and/or heroes for action games. We are in an early phase of development where exploration and innovation happen quickly, and are balanced against building tools and hardening the core game. Being able to prove out initial versions of new concepts without additional technical support is an important part of this role at this stage of development. We are all enthusiastic about helping to shape a culture of collaboration and trust while creating best in class action game experiences.

- Proactively drives problems and solutions up to Leads and Directors.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Drive the creation of core combat features that makes the controller an extension of the player.
- Establish best practices for core hero abilities to prove out our combat loop and test new technology.
- Mentor and guide the design team on your area of expertise.
- Drive the discussion with art and narrative to ideate new hero designs.
- Identify problems and solutions for AI and encounters.
- Attend playtests and provide constructive feedback across all aspects of the game.
- Organize and drive the technical requirements and vision for design workflows and pipelines.
- Proactively identify team challenges and drive solutions with desk side communication.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of professional experience as a Designer.
- Proven experience in gameplay or hero design and knowledgeable in many other areas of design.
- Expert Blueprint or related scripting engine experience and/or experience programming in C++/C#.

Compensation:
- This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
- The full salary range for this position is $169,000 – $262,000 per year. The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. When an offer is made, many factors are considered, such as your unique experience and skills, where you live, where the work will be performed, what similar jobs pay, internal equity, and what you’re looking for.
- In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for additional incentives, such as a sign-on bonus and short- and long-term incentives. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
