Principal Group Product Manager – Azure Communication Services: Developer Relations & Experience

We are looking for a Principal Group Product Manager to lead our Developer Relations & Experience team in driving the next generation of API-first, AI powered communications for Microsoft via Azure Communication Services (ACS).

ACS is Microsoft’s Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS), which empowers developers to developers to create connected customer experiences across applications by orchestrating and integrating intelligence within Business-to-Customer (B2C) communications. Our mission is to empower every organization to achieve more through intelligent communications across every interaction with their customers.

ACS abstracts the complexities of communications and network programming through a set of easy-to-use developer tools. ACS includes core communications primitives of Programmable Voice and Video, Calling, Messaging, Email, and Chat as well as orchestration and intelligence solutions built on these primitives, including Teams Interoperability, to enable end to end (E2E) Customer interaction experiences. ACS is built on the same cloud infrastructure that powers Microsoft Teams which enables hundreds of millions of users to communicate across the globe.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 10+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years people management experience.
  • 5+ years experience leading developer relations: evangelism, advocacy, documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years people management experience.
  • Experience with user research and UX design
  • Customer obsessed mindset – you lead with deep customer empathy, define core customer value first and driving product vision across multiple divisions/organizations
  • Excellent cross-group collaboration, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication skills with presentations, speaking, and writing
  • Experience with enterprise software and developer platforms
  • Executive presence, coupled with ability to drive clarity and action at the executive level
  • Ability to be malleable, adapting to present to C-suite customers, while addressing developer and business owners in the same setting – applied, you can pan out and zoom into the right detail at the right time
  • Adept at navigating ambiguous problem-spaces and leading your team to successful product launches
  • Track record of bringing breakthrough innovation to market
  • Track record of building and retaining a passionate product management team
  • Cloud and services experience, with Azure cloud experience highly desirable
  • Passion for building highly scalable, highly reliable services

Product Management M6 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $158,500 – $276,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,800 – $304,200 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a cross-functional team of developer evangelists and advocates, community managers, and content creators to deliver customer and business value by creating best in class experiences for developers.
  • Provide strategic guidance to teams to define the long-term vision and strategy for the areas they are responsible for based on a deep understanding of customer needs, market and user research, the competitive landscape, and Microsoft’s business goals and strategy.
  • Create and build a strategic agenda for teams to identify customers’ unmet or unknown needs and market opportunities for enhancement and development of feature(s)/feature areas via quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Direct team on prioritization and execution to deliver end-to-end capabilities, across multiple program/team roadmaps, to drive successful adoption of developer platform communication services into E2E communication experiences.
  • Drive a culture of hypothesis driven development and experimentation and coach team to rapidly prototype to drive customer value.
  • Hold team accountable for effectively collaborating across functions and partnering with teams and organization across Microsoft to drive customer value.
  • Drive and coach team to define the business impact across the organization, success criteria, and performance metrics
