SUMMARY
We are looking for new principals to join our team and foster a healthy learning environment for our students. Your primary responsibilities will be to supervise our education staff and oversee day-to-day school operations. To succeed in this role, you should be able to make quick decisions under pressure and have a comprehensive understanding of the national education system and its regulations. Excellent communication and organizational abilities are also important skills you should demonstrate as a principal.

The Principal leads all stakeholders in fulfilling the collective mission and vision of the school. The Principal promotes a culture of student success through high expectations, collaborative relationships, and ensuring that the learning environment is inclusive and equitable. The principal promotes the professional growth of all teachers and staff members through effective Professional Development, coaching, feedback, and evaluations. The Principal is responsible for the efficacy of the site’s systems and overall operations. The Principal builds and maintains relationships with all families and community members to represent their school and invite participation. The Principal is responsible for ensuring compliance with Tucson Unified School Board policies.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent, Regional

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field.
Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
Arizona Principal Certificate
Five years of full-time, paid, professional educational experience, two of which have been as a Principal or Assistant Principal

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Five years of Principal experience; three years as an Assistant Principal
English/Spanish Bilingual
Demonstrated background/experience in school leadership including supervision/management and/or teamwork

Certified Evaluator in the Danielson Framework of Teaching
Demonstrated background/experience in school leadership including supervision/management of both faculty and staff

Experience working in a designated Title 1 school and being directly responsible for collaboratively creating and implementing the site’s plan

Experience in structuring and leading Professional Learning Communities

Experience in designing an effective Multi-Tier System of Support for students, using data and observation to create successful student interventions

Experience in creating and infusing Positive Behavior Interventions and Support systems throughout the school

Experience in designing a cohesive Professional Development Plan

Experience with overseeing Exceptional Education and language acquisition programs

Experience with designing a master schedule

Experience with data analysis in order to progress monitor achievement, identify instructional strengths in achievement, and/or identify needed interventions

Experience in leading the implementation of technology as an instructional tool and familiarity with technology applications

Experience developing and managing a variety of budgets to address the site’s needs

Experience with supporting teachers through coaching, goal setting, and frequent feedback

Experience in successful family engagement through forming relationships, planning and hosting parent events, including parents on School Councils

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization

LOCATION: 33rd and Park area

FTE: 1.0 – 8 hours per day

Work Calendar: 12 months

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE ADMINISTRATIVE HIRING PROCESS:

  1. The first review of applications will begin on January 9th, 2023, and reviews will take place weekly until vacancies are filled.
  2. Upon submission of a successfully completed application, you will be invited to respond to a one-way video screener
  3. Based on the initial screening of your application and video responses, you may be invited to an interview (Via zoom or In-person) with a panel of the District Leadership team.
  4. Following district leadership interviews, successful candidates will be matched with prospective School sites for School Council panel Interviews.
  5. The penultimate round for the two finalists for each vacancy will be a School Community Forum, consisting of a public presentation, and a question and answer session with community members. At this time the community will be asked to submit feedback and comments for the superintendent’s leadership team’s final recommendations.
  6. Superintendent Recommendation to the Governing Board for Appointment.

Principal employment for the 2023-2024 School Year begins on July 1st, 2023.

SALARY RANGE AT HIRE:
Elementary School – $77,561.24 – $90,046.19
K-8 School – $83,826.34 – $97,319.78

Middle School – $83,826.34 – $97,319.78
