Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least two years of experience (five years preferred) in building and/or grounds maintenance work, including two years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, tools, and materials used in park maintenance activities. Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans, and specifications; to use hand and power tools; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to effectively use computer in communication and in using various programs; demonstrated ability to effectively use computer in communication and in using various programs; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers; to perform physically demanding work. Must possess a Registered Technician Pesticide License and obtain category 3A and category 3B Commercial Pesticide License within one year of employment. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within 30 days of interview date. Pre- employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required
Duties
Supervise staff engaged in a full range of semi-skilled tasks. Assist Park Manager in the development of short and long range plans and operating procedures; participate in development and administration of the budget for assigned area of responsibility; supervise and monitor productivity to meet performance indicators and service level agreements; prepare daily crew work schedules and set priorities for assignments; requisition materials, supplies and equipment; locate sources for unusual equipment or parts; coordinate crew activities and other sections and schedule jobs accordingly. Perform other work as required.
Shift
Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays
