Principal Product Manager (Software)

The Principal Product Manager is accountable for the end to end planning for In-Flight Entertainment Software and Hardware products, from conceptualization through to retirement. The Principal Product Planning Manager works closely with key stakeholders such as Product Management, Engineering Project Management and Customer Program Management to ensure Products are planned to meet customer deliveries.

The Principal Product Planning Manager is responsible for taking inputs from key areas across the business, such as Sales, Product Management, Engineering and Delivery teams to evaluate dependencies and adherence to critical milestones. They will evaluate changes that occur that will have an impact to either Product Development or customer deliveries and will make recommendations to key stakeholders to ensure that SPI is able to meet its objectives from a product delivery perspective.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning of SPI’s In-Flight Entertainment products end to end, ensuring SPI can meet is development objectives and program deliveries
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to define need dates, key milestones, risks and drive corrective actions when deliverables cannot be met
  • Work closely with Sales to understand customer commitments as they relate to new product development
  • Work closely with Customer Program Management to ensure key program milestones are aligned with Product Development plans
  • Work closely with Product Management to ensure product roadmaps reflect customer need dates as well as managing change
  • Coordinate Product Release planning to ensure Product Releases serve customer needs based on their delivery dates
  • Work closely with Engineering Project Management to understand the status of execution plans and manage impacts when plans change, making recommendations to Product and Program Management to mitigate the impact of changes
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to drive corrective actions across different business streams where changes impact Product Development plans or customer delivery dates
  • Responsible for the project management and coordination of the conceptualization stages of New Product Developments
  • Responsible for the project management and coordination of products that are to be withdrawn from service
  • Provide reporting on the overall status of Product Development across the entire lifecycle (Stage S0 through S12)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on product scope and value to establish and maintain priorities based on balancing business and customer impact
  • Use two-way communication to influence outcomes and ongoing results
  • Leverages relationships across the business to drive outcomes
  • Motivate and push teams for results and completion by example and team spirit
  • Adapt quickly to new scenarios that require specific skill sets and have high levels of ambiguity

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent experience in a related field
  • PMP or equivalent professional qualification
  • Prior Product or Industry Experience
  • 10+ years of experience working in product or planning roles
  • 6+ years of experience in project management or similar technical leadership role
  • 7+ years of experience working in a Management role
  • Technical In-Flight Entertainment knowledge

Benefits

The starting pay range for this position is $129,000 to $166,000 however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
