Our vision at the Music ML and Personalization team is to offer Amazon customers delightful personalized audio experiences by building world class customer understanding, content recommendations and experience optimization platforms. As a team, we play multiple roles at Amazon Music – one, we develop ML models, platforms and capabilities, and experiment with them across experiences to improve personalization for music and podcasts across visual and voice experiences; two, we invest in building personalized experiences ourselves like playlists (daily mixes, discovery mixes) and recommenders (new releases for you recommender); and three, we incubate state of the art ML and AI technologies like Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) and leverage them to lift many boats.
Key job responsibilities
As a Principal Product Manager for ML & Personalization, you will help our team build and execute a strategy for becoming the world’s most personalized audio streaming service. This role will be focused on our recommendations and candidate generation models and services that leverage customer understanding, behavioral listening patterns, audio similarity models and LLMs. This PMT will work with scientists, engineers, program managers, and a variety of cross functional partners to understand customer and stakeholder needs, define a clear vision and strategy for their area, make prioritization decisions, invest in the next generation of recommendations models and services, and deploy them across experiences to improve personalization on Amazon Music, Podcasts and Amp services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 2+ years of end to end product delivery experience
– 8+ years of technical product or program management experience
– Bachelor’s degree
– Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
– Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
– Experience leading engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
– Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of product management experience in a technological industry
– Experience working on agile enabled teams
– Experience launching consumer-facing online/mobile products/service from start to finish
– MBA or master’s degree in a quantitative field
– Experience working with products rooted in voice, personalization, search or machine learning based systems
– Proven ability to understand complex business problems, apply strong analytical skill and create an effective strategy
– Technical fluency; ability to understand and discuss architectural concepts, schedule tradeoffs and new opportunities with technical team members
– Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work across functions and influence senior leaders
– Demonstrated success building buy-in for an innovative and bold vision
– Excellent platform experience intuition; demonstrated success in creating innovative and user-friendly software applications and customer-facing features
– Nimbleness and comfort with ambiguity; ability to respond rapidly to evolving threats and opportunities
– Demonstrated ability to translate strategic differentiators into innovative and detailed product requirements
– Proven ability to make smart features (customer experience) versus time-to-market trade-offs; experience using data and metrics to back up assumptions and assertions of business value

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market.
