Principal Product Manager Tech, IT Product and Development

Amazon IT Product and Development (PnD) team is looking for an experienced Product Manager who is passionate about defining a bold vision for the IT experience at Amazon, and driving a strategy and roadmap of customer-centric solutions that improve Amazonian’s productivity and overall work experience. The right candidate is a natural leader who sees the big picture and collaborates seamlessly with cross-functional stakeholders and teammates to define and gain alignment on a clear path forward. They work back from the customer to gain deep understanding, and skillfully craft insight into innovative product experiences that delight customers by effortlessly solving for both explicit and implicit needs.

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager Technical (PMT) who is innovative, passionate, and customer-focused, and is willing to “get hands dirty” in a start-up environment while being able to optimize delivery against both short and long term goals.

Key job responsibilities

You possess an established Product Management track record, demonstrated experience launching mission-critical systems, and a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. You will be responsible for defining the current and future state functional views of the major customer journey’s across PnDs product portfolio, and gaining alignment on the overall roadmap to achieve the future state vision that dramatically improves the customer experience. You will play a leadership role in IT’s Customer Experience Council, and integrate or build similar mechanisms with key partner groups outside of IT towards optimizing for ideal customer outcomes regardless of organizational boundaries.

A day in the life

* Dive deep to understand customer needs, and build a product roadmap that optimizes their work experiences.

* Work with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver the next generation of products that Amazonians use for supportability and productivity starting on Day 1.

* Align senior leaders across IT on a common future vision and strategy.

* Establish mechanisms across IT and partner teams to improve the customer experience.

* Collaborate with UX for user research and designs.

* Engage with partner teams to work backwards from customers and deliver clear documents that drive alignment and decision making.

The IT PnD team is a dynamic and rapidly growing product development team within Amazon. We are building the next generation systems to shift the paradigm for supporting one of the biggest and innovative workforces in the world.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor’s degree

– 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

– Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

– Experience owning feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

– Experience developing mobile / internet products and technologies

– Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders

– Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence others

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

– Experience as a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and effectively influence across cross-functional teams

– Experience leading cross-organizational programs and setting and holding teams and individuals to timelines and deliverables without explicit authority

– Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
