Principal Product Manager – Tech, Strategic Regulation

Amazon is seeking an innovative and high-judgement Principal Product Manager-Technical (PMT) to join the new Strategic Regulation team. We own products and programs that deliver technical innovation for ensuring compliance with high-impact, urgent regulation across Amazon services worldwide. The Principal PMT – Compliance Reporting will own three key pillars: 1) build reporting requirements to track progress against internal compliance goals and external regulations, 2) determine (and if required develop) key metrics and data elements required to deliver reporting requirements, and 3) define then implement a roadmap to deliver reporting products in priority order. The PMT will contribute to the strategic direction for Amazon’s digital competitive practices while building the compliance approach for individual regulations such as the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). This will require helping to frame, and participating in, high judgment debates and decision making across senior business, technology, legal, and public policy leaders.

A great candidate will have a unique combination of experience with complex and ambiguous regulatory environments, high judgement in prioritization and trade off decisions, and ability to develop comprehensive reporting tools using data sources fed via multiple services. You will drive high impact cross-service decisions, set business requirements, lead reporting design, and have end to end accountability for delivering compliance reporting across dozens of different teams. The role reports to the Head of Strategic Regulation Tech under Amazon Stores and Advertising Legal. You will have high engagement with WW senior leadership via monthly reviews, annual organizational planning, and s-team goal updates. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a strong background in reporting products and a proven track record for delivering high value business results in ambiguous regulatory environments.

Key job responsibilities
• Own a broad scope and plenty of opportunity to influence strategic direction across Amazon business and engineering teams.
• Act as single threaded business lead accountable for designing and delivering clear, precise and actionable reporting tools that capture data from across Amazon businesses.
• Set a comprehensive portfolio to deliver an ambitious 3+ year vision growing reporting tools of increasing complexity, scope and scale.
• Design reporting artifacts and user interfaces to be easily consumed by peers, senior management and regulators.
• Deep dive with technical teams to build solutions that meet reporting product requirements.
• Engage with Business, Legal, Compliance and Policy leaders to reach decisions on hotly debated reporting topics.
• Hold partner teams accountable for delivering complete, accurate and timely data for input into reporting.
• Coordinate across business and technical teams to build and drive the reporting roadmap.
• Partner with Legal and Public Policy teams to input into external advocacy strategy and materials.
• Participate in monthly business review series and s-team goal updates with Senior Vice Presidents.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 8+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience

– Bachelor’s degree

– Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

– Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

– Experience with end to end product delivery

– Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

– Experience technical product management

– Passion for working with business, technical and operational teams, especially in data privacy and data sharing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

– Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

– Data privacy background preferred

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
