Job Title: Principal Project Development Engineer
Reports to: Dir, Renewables Development Engineering
Hybrid in Portland, OR
Salary Range: $127,000 – $159,000
Purpose
The Principal Project Development Engineer is responsible for leading and guiding impactful and complex engineering scopes associated with the development of utility-scale onshore wind, solar, and battery storage projects. Working closely with the project team, this person will focus on completion of preliminary engineering to pace with overall project development, contractor bidding, project investment approval, and transition to Construction Engineering. In addition to expert conceptual and practical renewables development engineering knowledge and experience, the successful candidate will have a proven track-record of effectively solving the most unique and complex challenges and mentorship of engineers.

Skills and Requirements
Experience / Education
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Expert renewables engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent education; preference may be giving to candidates with relevant advanced degree(s).
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration and applicable field experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Recognized expert in renewables engineering area(s), attends relevant industry meetings/conferences, provides leadership to industry committees, associations, and/or working groups.
- Superior influencing and communication skills to articulate technical concepts.
- Adept agility during fluctuating development stages and strategies.
- Expert ability to analyze, review, and integrate many different engineering disciplines, such as electrical (transmission, substation, collection) and civil (grading, geotechnical, structural, roads, transportation) for various renewable energy applications.
- Advanced knowledge of renewable energy industry construction practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Earth, OPC, Visio, and AutoCAD.
- Preference may be given to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Civil: BOP design for renewables projects, geotechnical investigation, structural analysis, road design.
- High Voltage: Substation/transmission design and engineering.
- PV design and proficiency in pvDesign, PVSyst, and other PV design tools.
- Battery energy storage system development, analysis, engineering, and/or construction.
