Deploying high-end database workload on the Azure platform is strategic for Microsoft’s customers. Microsoft Azure is chosen by many partners and customers to host database centric solutions in public cloud.
Our Workload Engineering team within Azure Core is a team that has the focus of enabling, architecting and supporting specific DBMS workload to be deployed onto the Azure platform. Beyond that the team develops solution and reference architectures for these specific workloads on the Azure platform.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering as Oracle DBA with a mix of architecture and technical lead roles. Experience should include as many of the below as possible:
Oracle DBA Skills: Oracle DBMS architecture, Oracle DBMS Operational Best Practices, Oracle DBMS high availability and disaster recovery architecture- OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ Deep level of knowledge on Oracle DBMS HA/DR technologies including design and implementation of Geographically Dispersed HA/DR solutions for Oracle DBMS
- 3+ Hyper-Visor/Cloud/Networking Skills: Able to design, deploy and troubleshoot solutions based on the platforms of Azure or AWS
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/ Additional Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience as Oracle DBA with a mix of architecture and technical lead roles. Experience should include as many of the below as possible:
Oracle DBA Skills: Oracle DBMS architecture, Oracle DBMS Operational Best Practices, Oracle DBMS high availability and disaster recovery architecture - OS Skills: deep technical knowledge on at least one of the following -Linux (SUSE, RHEL, OEL). Additional Windows OS skills are a plus.
- Knowledge of performance analysis and resource allocation and utilization analysis.
- Oracle Performance Skills: deep knowledge including performance analysis, infrastructure sizing based on Oracle AWR reports, Oracle DBMS configurations and sizing, HA/DR and storage/disk design of Oracle DBMS
- Skills in scripting and automating tasks
- Ability to focus on delivering and deploying reliable, available and scalable Oracle DBMS architectures to customers and partners.
- Adaptable to the different layers of customer organizations up to CxO level. Capable of clearly articulating complex solutions and/or problems.
Software Engineering IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, test and document well performing, scaling, and resilient Oracle DBMS deployment scenarios on Azure infrastructure.
- Work with Azure development on testing Oracle DBMS workload scenarios on Azure
- Develop scripts for efficiently testing Oracle DBMS workloads on Azure.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex customer scenarios related to Oracle DBMS scenarios
- Work with selected customers and be the interface between Oracle DBMS customers who deploy on Azure and the Azure core development.
- Support the Microsoft customer facing personal to successfully promote Oracle DBMS scenarios on Azure infrastructure
