Within CO&I, the Capacity Delivery Strategy team has an exciting opportunity for a capable and driven principal service engineer to innovate, influence, transform, and inspire the enterprise to deliver capacity in a seamless manner to support hyper-scale growth and world-class efficiency and efficacy!
We are looking for an experienced technical leader and skilled systems developer to be a Principal Service Engineer on the Capacity Delivery Strategy team. This role will own development and implementation of capacity delivery process pipeline tools, insights, and monitoring programs. It will own engineering and leverage a nascent big-data insights platform to produce a scorecard and build automation that enables capacity process improvements and helps identify and quantify top risks and gaps across the pipeline.
The role will work with Capacity Delivery Strategy Program Manager, Tools Engineering, cross-functional v-teams, and our engineering and data science partners to agree on and implement strategies, develop and prototype automation and algorithms, queries, data models, process improvement architecture, visualization, and the right insights to expose information, motivate action, mitigate risks, drive and measure improvement.
In capacity pipeline space, this role includes developing and implementing measures, correlations, and analytics that provide insights to process owners and leadership on delivery activity, asset and process risk analyses and mitigations, accelerate and decelerate to capacity delivery velocity and thresholds, and deliver tooling and algorithms to measure effectiveness. In the process management and improvement space, this role will include measuring and deriving insights in preparedness, performance, and prevention through analytics run on several monitoring platforms. Additionally, this role will be responsible for aggregating and improving existing telemetry, signals, insights, and measures; developing new process-centric metrics, and providing reliable tooling to help improve delivery. This technical leader will work directly with our Program Manager and tools engineering teams to oversee the aggregation of process risks, insights, and reports for our leaders and engineering teams. This role requires working across all organizations at the company and understanding their process and data platforms in comparison to capacity delivery and operational processes and risk. This position requires a deep passion for engineering, delivery, improvement though insights, a bias for action, extensive cross-group coordination, excellent analytic skills, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to demonstrate the thinking and analysis behind insights.
This Principal Service Engineer role is critical to ensuring that capacity planning and delivery teams, and data science and engineering teams across the delivery pipeline are aligned and driving toward agreed upon strategic goals and metrics that enable positive action and reduce or mitigate the most relevant risks. An experienced and motivated technical service engineer with knowledge of process engineering, quantitative analytics, data visualization, infrastructure and information architecture and models, demonstrated experience in generating actionable insights, deep understanding of data, service, and insights platforms, and the ability to map analyses to risks and mitigations, is needed to lead this effort. The successful candidate has a track record of developing automation that supports hyper-scale growth to accelerate delivery, address risks and performance latency, collaborate across teams to develop automation and key performance indicators, burndown metrics and effectiveness indicators, coordinate multiple development efforts, and manage complex, cross discipline projects.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement automation to drive process improvement in the capacity delivery pipeline, quantitative reporting and monitoring program and scorecard:
- Drive in-depth technical and quantitative analyses of insights to result in discovery and cross-validation of gaps, latency, and risks that are relevant to capacity planning, delivery, operations, and engineering.
- Target and direct insights that are relevant to process owners, global planning, delivery, process, and engineering teams, service engineers, and business teams that are focused on implementing planning and delivery activities, and developing and landing improvements to their organizational capacity delivery initiatives and processes.
- Provide quantitative analysis and lead technical automation development cross-functional, highly visible teams supporting capacity delivery strategy and engineering improvements.
- Develop algorithms and tooling to aggregate trending and leading indicators from insights platforms, data repositories, real time telemetry and infrastructure signaling, and lead the development of automation to enable or enhance process improvement and operational efficiency within the capacity delivery pipeline.
- Collaborate effectively and inclusively with colleagues across the company, to deliver technical innovation, drive clarity, generate energy, and deliver engineering and process improvements.
Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, Infrastructure Management, Process Engineering, Datacenter build out, hardware deployment, Data Analysis organizations, or systems engineering.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2 years experience conducting business intelligence analyses, data insights mining, performance measurements of engineering and process initiatives, and driving recommendations based on insights and risks.
- 2 years experience driving enterprise infrastructure initiatives, including focus on ETL, BI, DW, AI or ML.
- 2 years fluency in software development tools, languages, and stacks.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 12+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with enterprise automation, infrastructure delivery, data architecture, conceptual and logical data models and algorithms, complex multi-phased delivery of automation, tooling, and analytics and insights, spanning large organizations and hyper-scale delivery initiatives.
- Experience deriving insights from scalable big-data and insights platforms.
- Ability to drive large scale software / system development projects, as well as smaller but equally impacting prototypes, with collaboration and leadership.
- Capacity planning, capacity delivery, datacenter hardware specification, deployment, engineering, and operations experience, or other capacity delivery experience.
- Experience in capacity performance measurement and reporting.
- High-level of maturity and experience working with technical leadership and program management.
- The ability to analyze complex problems and recommend software /system solutions and technologies quickly.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and agility to learn new skill sets, platforms, data science outcomes, and insights, while delivering.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to simplify and articulate complex issues.
Service Engineering IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.
