Principal Software Engineer – Service Architecture

T he PowerPoint Services team has the responsibility for the design, implementation, and efficient operations of several high scale cloud services deeply integrated into PowerPoint and other Office applications. Qualifications:
Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding using C++ OR C#.
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience in service architecture in cloud services at internet scale.
  • Experience presenting technical topics to executive audiences.

Preferred Qualification:

  • 10+ years of software development in cloud services at internet scale
  • Full understanding of all aspects of the software development process
  • Ability to drive initiatives a cross multiple service teams and across disciplines
  • Experience translating business and legal requirements to precise technical requirements is a plus
  • Proficiency in system architecture & design , data analysis and problem solving
  • Organization and demonstrated ability to lead cross team efforts
  • Customer osessed and inclined towards product quality, and service excellence

Software Engineering IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.

Represent the unique requirements of PowerPoint services to our partners in Office and Azure to drive improvements in to the underlying platform.

Beyond smooth, on time delivery of high impact, cross service investments you will be expected to significantly influence and elevate our individual service team’s proficiency in developing and running world class, at scale services . Proactively spread innovations & techniques horizontally between our service teams and successfully advocate for moving improvements upstream into our platform & service infrastructure to enable broad & rapid adoption across our individual services.
