Principal Software Engineer (Viva Goals)

Viva Goals is seeking Principal Software Engineers who will focus on building software applications that scale well.

As a Principal Software engineer (Viva Goals) you will closely work with other engineers, managers, product, design and operations teams to create solutions that meet business requirements. You will drive engineering and operational excellence across the team. You will collaborate with other engineers to surface common pain points, develop solutions and evangelize best practices. You will also support, mentor and help other engineers in the team.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    o OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years Experience in architecting, building, and maintaining highly available services in a large service-oriented architecture (SOA).
  • 5+ years Exceptional coding abilities and experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    o OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    o OR equivalent experience.

  • Full-stack developer with good proficiency in JavaScript, React, Ruby, RoR, Linux.
  • Excellence in software engineering practices, coding and solid foundation in data structures, algorithms with strong testing, debugging and analytical skills.
  • A passion for distributed systems and large-scale storage.
  • Experience with distributed databases, transaction semantics/management, and indexing systems.
  • Experience at many layers of the tech stack (native, web, service, UX, model, data).
  • Experience with existing M365 foundational technologies.

Software Engineering IC6 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $158,500 – $276,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,800 – $304,200 per year.

  • Play a significant architect role in shaping our software architecture across Viva Goals and shared Viva platform. Scale the storage and services to meet the emerging enterprise needs.
  • Onboard to Substrate and Purview and integrate with M365 applications.
  • Ensure availability and latency needs addressed by engineering reliability in software and systems.
  • Focus on operability of the service including security, privacy, resiliency, Business Continuity & disaster recovery.
  • Understand both technology and business to know the right tradeoffs to make.
  • Drive engineering and operational excellence across Goals.
