This is Principal Software Engineering Manager role on our combined Software Engineer/Site Reliability Engineer (DevOps) team provides leadership, direction, and accountability for cloud design, service architecture, engineering infrastructure, and data platform development. You will help conduct business reviews and operate our production services. Proven collaboration skills will be required to work closely with other engineering teams to ensure services and systems are highly stable, meet performance SLAs (Service Level Agreements), and meet the expectations of internal and external customers and users.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of a mix of coding/testing/Integration experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing a team with proven ability to nurture and grow talent/first line managers.
- 5+ years of experience managing highly scalable services.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must have an active Top Secret and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph) or have an active TS/SCI and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph)
- Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under U.S. export control regulations, potentially under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or the Export Administration Regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, U.S. permanent residency or other protected status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
- Kubernetes, and the Kubernetes satellite technologies
- Proficient in at least one scripting language but knows when to move solutions into managed code
- Development experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure
- Spark, Data Lake or big data platform pipeline development (Ex. Azure Data Factory, Data Explorer/Kusto, Data Bricks, Spark)
- Azure DevOps and GitHub tooling
- Data mining or data science experiences utilizing Big Data andor relational database technologies
- Proven experience with building large scale services/Infrastructures, supportability, and observability
- Experience with live site support and on-call models and participate in a 24×7 live site support model as Incident Manager
Software Engineering M5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.
