Principal Tech Program Manager, Shopping Foundations

Amazon’s Shopping Foundation’s team is hiring a leader who will lead the delivery of the systems Amazon Store builders use to build and operate all the Shopper facing Customer Experiences on Amazon’s iOS and Android shopping apps and website for the next decade.

You are the ideal candidate who combines the ability to deliver long term customer value optimizing on a large set of dimensions of complexity, ambiguity and scale. You have demonstrated the ability to lead complex technical program delivery through cross-functional technical teams. In this role, you will propose and deliver on ambitious program goals and multi-year roadmaps. You will collaborate with other senior leaders, Product Managers, Principal Engineers, and Engineering leads and developers to plan and implement the strategic vision of our next generation foundation that will power delightful shopping experiences. You will own and build scalable mechanisms to listen, advocate, and balance needs of internal engineering customers and retail shopping customers. You will leverage your analytical skills and high judgement to set priorities and make difficult tradeoff decisions. You will use data and develop key north star metrics to ensure we deliver the right outcomes. You earn trust with your partners and you will regularly communicate key decisions, insights, and rationale to VPs, senior leaders, and key stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

As a part of this job, you will own a large and complex program portfolio and focus on challenging problems, like:

– Setting up program mechanisms to drive alignment of the program and goal delivery with the delivery across 10+ contributing teams.

– Holding leaders across product and engineering accountable for their deliverables at the quality and timelines expected by our customers.

– Looking around corners to identify risks, tradeoffs and propose mitigations. Drive these decisions and the decision making process to be fast, simple and lowest friction.

– Delivering communication about program direction, status and future that is simple, precise and actionable to various levels of senior leaders, internal customers as well as engineers delivering on the program.

A day in the life

– You will lead delivery cross-organizational and highly ambiguous product that is used by thousands of builders at Amazon to build Shopping experiences.

– You will own the roadmap planning, prioritization, and communication with stakeholders.

-You will work with cross functional leaders in a diverse organization learning from them, influencing them and bringing them together to align on a single, well-articulate path forward.

– You will identify obstacles and define strategies to mitigate the risks and be central in making high-judgement trade/off decisions.

About the team

The mission of the Amazon’s Web and Mobile Shopping Foundations (WMSF) team is to continually raise the bar for the Amazon shopping experiences and accelerate the ability for builders worldwide to deliver and operate innovative, consistent experiences easily and at increasingly lower total cost.

We own and operate the services and libraries that accelerate innovation and empower experience builders build delightful Customer Experiences for both Mobile and Web.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

– 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

– 7+ years of technical program management experience

– 5+ years of software development experience

– Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

– Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
