Principal Technical Program Manager, Amazon Music – Podcasts

Podcasts on Amazon Music are listened to by millions of customers worldwide on iOS, Android, web, and Alexa enabled devices. But it’s still Day 1 for the Amazon Music Podcast experience, and we’re looking for some great engineers to help us make it even better.

As a Principal Technical Program Manager at Amazon Music Podcasts, you will have the opportunity to work closely with product, design, software development and platform teams to implement strategy and execution. You will collaborate with the product teams to deliver the best solutions with efficient use of resources and technologies. You will make strong business cases for project prioritization and investment. You will also assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints and inspire risk-taking behavior to maximize business benefit. Key job responsibilities

  • Drive implementation and delivery of large-scale Podcast initiatives.
  • Lead agile engineering and design teams to coordinate, prioritize and deliver to a daring roadmap
  • Understand service inter-dependencies and lead cross-functional teams towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems
  • Clarify, prioritize and drive project commitments as well as establish and maintain clear chains of accountability
  • Articulate program goals, desired outcomes, risks/issues and mitigation plan clearly
  • Mentor junior employees and build effective teams
  • Support and enhance existing products with thoughtful and measurable impact

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in an energizing environment
  • Customer relationship skills including the ability to discover true requirements, underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet bold timelines with optimal solutions
  • A deep understanding of the SDLC and consistent record of achieving program objectives on schedule, on budget and meeting quality criteria
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for program success.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
