We’re seeking a future team member in the role of Principal, Technology Product Manager to join our Technology Product Management area with a concentration in APIs.

This role is located in Jersey City, NJ or Lake Mary, FL.

This will be a flex/remote position.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

The Technology Product Management (TPM) team at BNY Mellon | Pershing is responsible for delivering innovative digital experiences to our clients. Our product vision and strategy are driven by voice of the client, business goals and objectives, and competitive intelligence. This dynamic team is responsible for defining the vision, strategy, and roadmaps for our products to design and build solutions that transform user experiences for financial services professionals and their clients.

As a Product Manager on the Technology Product Management Team, you will have the responsibility of driving the delivery of strategic priorities and promoting the adoption of our solutions across the wide range of Pershing clients globally related to our digital adoption tools. Product Managers work closely with colleagues in a variety of roles such as Product Owners, Development Engineers, Business Owners, Project Managers, Marketing and Communications, among others. Product Managers serve as client advocates internally; they articulate the product positioning, benefits, and target audience, and promote their products both internally and externally, when appropriate.

More specifically as an API Product Manager, you will have the opportunity to consult actively with clients and prospects to determine which API solutions meet their strategy and objectives, and in doing so your contribution can improve the build experience for their developers and ultimately the end product for their users.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following from candidates who:

  • Can ensure that our APIs provide value to all stakeholders including but not limited to third-party developers with access to the API, client firms who use the API, internal service desks who field questions from clients, and business unit leaders who own the APIs.
  • Have experience in building and launching various APIs, including API-based products and services, as well as passion projects using APIs from other firms in the general marketplace.
  • Can partner with various stakeholders like developers and architects to work on the project scope, products, and overcome issues.
  • Have knowledge of agile methodologies, SCRUM, and Kanban, an understanding of API-related concepts such as JSON and REST.
  • Have been part of a developer community.

Qualifications & Requirements:

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Driving strategy, creating the product roadmap, developing use cases, managing the integration of the solution into multiple channels, leading internal and external communication plans, product marketing, messaging content, campaigns and product adoption efforts;
  • Participating, prioritizing and contributing to SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) pods; writing JIRA epics/stories, and sharing the vision to prioritize and drive the creation and the delivery of digital adoption-related initiatives;
  • Fostering the relevant vendor relationships;
  • Developing and building relationships with internal SMEs, business and technology partners, and understanding clients’ needs;
  • Leading and participating in key elements of product delivery, including budgeting and strategy decisions;
  • Being a champion of digital adoption platforms, promoting new features to clients, defining success metrics, and accelerating adoption while simultaneously enhancing our clients’ holistic experience at BNY Mellon’s Pershing

You have:

  • Technology product experience, preferably in the financial industry
  • Experience successfully leading complex products, which require engagement from diverse teams with their own set of priorities, to positive outcomes
  • A passion for improving the financial lives of everyday people through the delivery of elegant and powerful digital tools they will want to use

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and computer science is a plus
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in technology and digital products and API development is a plus
  • Broker-dealer, RIA, and/or financial services experience
  • Prior developer experience is a plus
  • Experience in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) a plus
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent decision making, problem solving, and negotiation skills
  • Experience in business-to-business technology and third-party integrations is a plus
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in a dynamically changing environment is preferred

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $108,000 and $180,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
