Principal UX Designer, People Engine
As Principal UX Designer on People Engine, you will be responsible for creating, defining, and envisioning innovative and bar raising experiences for Amazon’s 2 million global and diverse employees, with a focus on manager experiences. You will partner with research and/or drive research yourself and provide design oversight for a pod of designers.
In this role, you will be reviewing designs and concepts regularly with customers, cross-functional partners, executives, and stakeholders. You will be expected to educate down, up and out on your design decisions and back them up with data/customer insights. You will be responsible for managing your own work queue and should demonstrate an ability to work around difficult design limitations and see around corners. You’ll be an advocate for our customer experience.

Key job responsibilities
• Create elegant and intuitive, multi-modal user experiences by incorporating insights, business requirements and technical constraints
• Lead the planning and strategic phases of a project. Proactively pitch new ideas, backed by a strong, well-articulated rationale and research
• Quickly and iteratively create user flows, wireframes, and lo-fi to hi-fi prototypes, with detailed visual design specifications for web and mobile interfaces
• Independently deliver solutions for problems of large scope, complexity and ambiguity
• Be a champion for user-centered design by researching/testing your solutions in front of users
• Present design work to UX, Product, and Engineering teams, as well as stakeholders and executive leadership
• Contribute to user experience design guidelines and development best practices and standards at Amazon Design Community
• Proactively mentor and lead designers
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years of design experience
• Have an available online portfolio
• Experience with best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design
• Experience in life cycle design projects from design strategy through execution
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience providing and effectively communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on data
• Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Keynote, and InVision

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $131,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
