Arcadis is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Engineer Project Manager/Principal Engineer to join our Resilience Water team in Buffalo, NY.

Role description:
In this role, you will utilize your expertise and technical knowledge to execute water and wastewater treatment design & construction engineering activities. You will be a critical member of our team and be expected to support the proven reputation of excellence in Client Management/Development along with executing projects and managing project pursuits within the municipal Water/Wastewater market of this region.
Role accountabilities:
- Lead and/or participate in client development activities, assisting with position and capture strategies, proposal, and presentation efforts for water/wastewater design projects
- Work with the Area Leader(s) and client Account Leader(s) to develop project scopes and fee estimates, setting the best stage for profitable delivery, managing risk, identifying project staff, and related activities
- Lead projects and clients in the planning, design and construction of water/wastewater treatment plants, storm water systems, distribution/collection systems, and pump/lift stations as well as creating construction documents, specifications, and providing engineering services during construction
- Manage a range of projects for various clients in the region. Responsibilities will include managing budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment, and leading project team to meet the project deliverables
- Work directly, when assigned, with clients to determine needs and provide solutions
- Coordinate multi-disciplined engineering teams
- Manage design teams and mentor junior engineers
- Support the development of small to large design projects from inception to completion
- Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards
- Travel (up to 20%) for client meetings, project site visits, etc.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field
- 15 years of related industry experience in the water/wastewater field
- PE License in New York and/or in other nearby states (or ability to obtain NY PE within 12 months of hire)
Key Skills and Attributes
- Staff development and supervision skills; including mentoring junior level staff
- Client relationship skills: including preparation and development of proposals and client management experience with a successful record of accomplishment, delivering a variety of engineering projects that meet or exceed the expectations of the client.
- Experience in water / wastewater plant/facility design and construction administration/oversight projects.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or an MBA
- 20 years of progressively responsible experience
- Secondary certification (W/WW Operators License, BCEE, PMP, LEED, ENV SP)
- Active participation in regional (local/state) and/or national professional associations

We offer seven paid holidays and potentially up to two floating holidays per calendar year depending on start, and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $116,000 – $174,000.
