Role description:
As a Principal Water/Wastewater Treatment Engineer, you will lead a team to grow their expertise and technical knowledge of water/wastewater treatment design and construction support services. You will be a critical member of our team in Houston and will be expected to execute and manage projects, engage in client development and winning more exciting and challenging projects.
Role accountabilities:
- Manage a range of projects for various clients in the region and coordinate multi-disciplined engineering teams. Responsibilities will include managing budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment, and leading project teams to meet the project deliverables.
- Lead projects and clients in the planning, design, and construction of water/wastewater treatment plants, collection systems, and lift stations as well as creating construction documents, specifications, and handling construction oversight/administration.
- Lead and/or participate in client development activities, assist with position, and capture strategies, proposal, and presentation efforts for Water/Wastewater Facility Design projects.
- Contribute to the local strategy with clients in the planning, design, and construction of water/wastewater treatment plants, stormwater systems, distribution/collection systems, and pump/lift stations.
- Work with Area Leader(s) and client Account Leader(s) to develop project scopes and fee estimates, setting the best stage for profitable delivery, managing risk, identifying project staff, and related activities.
- Coordinate with Arcadis’ industry-leading technical advisors in water/wastewater process modeling and facility design.
- Support the work of others and mentor junior-level engineers & design/drafting technical staff.
- Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
- Travel (up to 10%) is required. Travel will be conducted for project site visits, client meetings, and business development purposes.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- 12 or more years of related industry experience in the water/wastewater field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- PE License in Texas (or ability to obtain TX PE within 6 months).
Key Attributes:
- Strong technical engineering background and experience successfully delivering water/wastewater treatment plant design projects.
- Experience with client development pursuit/proposal and interviews to win more exciting projects.
- Experience in delivering technical presentations and participating in project pursuit interviews.
- Organized with strong attention to detail.
- Flexible to work with different project teams locally and across remote offices to deliver higher quality work products to clients.
- Experience negotiating, managing, and successfully delivering projects with fees of $1 million or more.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years of related industry experience.
- Master’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.

The salary range for this position is $124700- $187050 / year.
