About the role…
If you’re a designer who loves travel, education and nonprofits, this could be your dream job. We’re Road Scholar, the not-for-profit leader in educational travel for older adults and we are looking to add a Print Production Artist to our growing design team.
This is not a traditional creative design role – this role is ideal for those who appreciate the zen of steady, focused, high-volume production work. Our ideal candidate is has loads of entrepreneurial spirit and is a highly-motivated, detail oriented person responsible for the production of multiple large-format catalogs, direct mail brochures, letters, mailers, and supplemental marketing materials. This role could be ideal for the individual who has lots of experience and is looking for steady, streamlined desktop publishing work, or it could be ideal for a person new to the design industry seeking experience in high-volume print production. You have strong knowledge and experience using Adobe InDesign on multi-page and single-page documents and should have a portfolio demonstrating excellent print production experience. You will be part of a close-knit, dynamic creative team of writers, designers, videographers and project managers to support a high-volume print production calendar.
Road Scholar offers a remote-first work environment. The compensation range for this exempt level salaried position is $55,000 -$60,000.
You will:
- Produce 4C print publications following specific print guidelines and
templates - Flightcheck, collect files for print, and output raw files and high-resolution
print-ready PDF’s - Help maintain and manage a growing digital photo library
- Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of writers, designers, project managers in support of our direct mail marketing program
- Provide general administrative support to the design team as needed
You need…
- A Bachelor’s or Certificate in desktop publishing, graphic design, communications, or related field
- 1-2 years of experience in the field of design, layout or production
- A portfolio of work that demonstrates excellent print and layout design
- Fluency in Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat.
- Retouching and photo editing skills
- Thorough understanding of print process, color theory and typography.
- Understanding of brand identity and willingness to comply with branding guidelines
- Passion for clean typography and design
- Polished and professional communication skills.
- Strong team-oriented attitude; energetic, quick learning, ability to create and maintain good working relationships
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, take direction, meet deadlines and prioritize jobs.
- Interest in educational travel or non-profit
