Privacy Attorney

Overview

Put your privacy experience to work alongside the Chief Privacy Officer. Negotiating privacy-related agreements with global customers, partners, and vendors. Provide legal support as part of dynamic transactional in-house, legal practice that blends the right balance of technology, business, and legal skill sets.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements; business associate agreements and other privacy-related agreements with customers, vendors, and various partners
  • Develop template privacy agreements and modify existing agreements based on legal requirements
  • Assist in responding to privacy questionnaires and inquiries from customers, distributors, and data subjects
  • Review vendor and partner privacy policies, identify concerns and recommend risk mitigation strategies
  • Review the validity of consent language and mechanism for business prospects and provide recommendations to stakeholder within Esri
  • Assess privacy risks
  • Educate internal clients on policies and practice, legal issues, and contracts
  • Analyze applicable privacy laws to provide guidance on applicable obligations
  • Identify and isolate privacy related issues for escalation to leadership team

Requirements

  • JD degree
  • 3 years experience in the privacy field
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communications skills
  • Admittance in good standing before California State Bar or other state bar
  • Strong analytical and issue-spotting skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a collegial, fast-paced environment
  • Quick learner with effective time management skills to manage a significant volume of agreements and multiple projects with various clients
  • Sound business judgment in identifying solutions

Recommended Qualifications

  • CIPP or similar certifications

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is $72,800.00 – $137,280.00.
