This position serves as a Privileged Access Management Analyst working with Analysts and Architects of the Zero Trust / Least Privilege security model for the State of Illinois. This position will analyze and configure Zero Trust and Least Privilege controls in securing the enterprise resources from cyber-attack. In this role, you will perform daily review of request for elevated privilege from users and applications. The Privileged Access Management Analyst will configure PAM tools to allow access in the most secure way for user’s assigned job duties while limiting potential data breaches. The PAM Analyst coordinates with Vendors, the office of the Chief Information Security Officer and a team of technicians to provide confidentiality, integrity, and availability in a Zero Trust / Least Privilege model. Job Responsibilities

25% Under general direction, serves as a Privileged Access Management Analyst for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT):

  • Performs difficult and specialized professional and advisory functions in the Midrange Wintel Software Management Unit.
  • Performs installations, system configurations, testing and implementation of application and Operating systems software with Least Privilege controls in a Zero-Trust model in an Active Directory environment in accordance with Agency requirements and IT policy in both physical and virtual server environments.
  • Reviews and evaluates customer requests.
  • Develops solutions to satisfy customer needs to ensure requests meet standards and procedures.
  • Recommends software products for applications.
  • Documents installations and enhancements.
  • Maintains and coordinates software and servers with clients.
  • Creates and modifies user and software policies to establish and maintain a Least Privilege and Zero Trust model.
  • Utilizes VMware, Cyber Security and Microsoft Windows Server in the performance of duties.

25% Provides technical assistance to clients and technicians pertaining to software and operating systems and Least Privilege controls in a Zero-Trust model:

  • Conducts reviews of software, components, and processes making written recommendations for modifications to provide availability, flexibility, and usability for the clients.
  • Reviews, creates, or modifies current configurations and programs.
  • Maintains established security processes for Risk Management and Remediation for Zero Trust and Least Privilege applied to users and applications, Web Applications, Operations Workflow, Data Classification and Management, or LAN and Network Services
  • Monitors software and servers.
  • Produces reports demonstrating efficacy of Zero Trust and Least Privilege controls.
  • Utilizes network communication concepts and principles, including knowledge of server/client network configurations, routers, routing protocols, switches, firewalls, VPN, or Internet in performance of job duties.

20% Performs problem diagnostics on user and software access to systems:

  • Evaluates and resolves problems when notified by recognized processes, clients, or technicians.
  • Performs in the diagnosis and resolution of system software and user access.
  • Serves as a liaison between agency customers and DoIT management and technicians for resolution of customer requirements.
  • Monitors trouble ticket to ensure acceptable service levels to agencies within listed time frames are being met.
  • Escalates time sensitive trouble calls to senior staff or appropriate vendor for faster resolution time.

15% Participates on projects as a team member and serves as a project coordinator for standard projects including small/medium size software installations and deployments:

  • Determines and coordinates project components such as project scheduling and assignments.
  • Assigns and reviews the work of project analyst staff.
  • Provides expertise, guidance, and direction to staff.
  • Reviews results and incorporates individual components of project into final products.

10% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field:

  • Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current on IT products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
  • Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.

5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, with course work in computer science, or directly related field.
  2. Requires one (1) year of professional experience in systems services or a related Information Technology field.

Specialized Skills

  1. Requires one (1) year of professional experience coordinating, planning, and completing multiple priorities.
  2. Requires one (1) year of professional experience with VMware, Cyber Security and Microsoft Windows Server.

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

  1. One (1) year of professional experience coordinating, planning, and completing multiple projects.
  2. One (1) year of professional experience with VMware, Cyber Security and Microsoft Windows Server.
  3. Extensive knowledge of technical concepts including Risk Management and Remediation for Zero Trust and Least Privlege applied to users and applications, Web Applications, Operations Workflow, Data Classification and Management, or LAN and Network Services.
  4. Working knowledge of Beyond Trust suite of security products, Systems Management Server (SMS), Windows Server Operating System and VMware.
  5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory users and computers.
  6. Working knowledge of network communication concepts and principles, including knowledge of server/client network configurations, routers, routing protocols, switches, firewalls, VPN, or Internet.
  7. Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgment in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature.
  8. Developed verbal and written communications skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision.
  9. Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others.
