The Opportunity and Who You’ll Work With:
Position Type: Permanent, Full Time, Benefits Eligible
Work Format: Hybrid
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, 40 hours per week
WBUR Podcasts is the original home of record-breaking classics like Modern Love and Dear Sugars, the National Murrow Award-winning internet and culture podcast Endless Thread, mission-driven projects about criminal justice and gun violence like Violation and The Gun Machine, chart-topping kids storytelling show Circle Round, and critical darling Anything for Selena. Our team makes podcasts for new and diverse generations of public media consumers by featuring voices that reflect those new generations.
As a Producer, you will work closely with a small editorial team to execute all logistics necessary to work across and produce varying podcasts for WBUR.
Primary duties include performing editorial tasks, such as interview preparation, segment production, and content management across radio, online, social media, and podcast platforms, collaborating with a team and contributing to operational logistics, content creation, and news reporting. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a passion for podcast production who exhibits strong attention to detail, can balance multiple projects, and is solutions-oriented.
(50%) Production:
- The podcast producer will assist in the production podcasts for WBUR, including writing, editing and skillfully crafting podcast episodes. Her or she will help in the distribution and marketing of the podcast and collaborate with podcast hosts and guests to obtain the desired presentation of podcast subjects. Liaise as appropriate with WBUR departments such as marketing and social media to ensure optimum publicity.
(20%) Content Management:
- The podcast producer helps determine the content of upcoming podcast episode and helps shape the conversation for these programs. Once this is established, the producer must then research the appropriate guest and sound opportunities. This requires editorial judgment as well as understanding the qualities of good audio.
(10%) Marketing:
- The podcast producer will help execute the marketing, social media and audience development strategies.
(10%) Guest Management:
- The podcast producer will help ensure that all guests who participate in podcast recording sessions are familiar with the format as well as how the recording session will be conducted. The podcast producer must address the varying styles of contributors, as well as the content to ensure that the guests offer their best material to the podcast recording session.
(10%) Proprietary Research:
- The podcast producer will help research and ensure all needed music rights for the podcast.
This position is covered under the terms of a collective bargaining agreement with SAG-AFTRA. The minimum salary is $78,412.50 and can go up based on experience and internal equity.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent/relevant experience
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
