The Boeing Company is looking for a Product Line Software Engineer for Real Time Embedded Systems (Virtual) – Mid-Level and Senior positions located in Mesa, AZ or Berkeley, MO.

This position will focus on supporting the Engineering Technology & Test (ET&T) business organization.

The Boeing Enterprise Software Products and Capability (ESPC) organization is seeking Mid-Level and Senior Level Software Product Line Engineer for Real Time Embedded Systems in key locations with option for full virtual.

The selected candidate will work with the ESPC product line engineering team focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design and development of mission and safety critical software systems. The position will involve standing up software product lines from existing software capabilities around Boeing.

The selected candidate will also work with the product team on providing complete solutions, including requirements, design, algorithms, software development, firmware development, and certification. The candidate will work with business leaders, program managers, and product owners to create common software products and tailor for use on a portfolio of customer-funded programs.

The successful candidate will work across programs and product owners to ensure software product line strategy and execution achieves business goals, program objectives, and customer need. The candidate will support new business growth through proposals, software estimating and new software capability concept development.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead, Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for product lines of real time embedded capabilities.
  • Lead, Develops and maintains code and integrates software product line components into a fully functional software system
  • Lead, Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure product line requirements are met
  • Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics
  • Executes and documents software research and development projects
  • Participate in peer reviews and overall technical product reviews
  • Works under general direction

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical degree
  • 2 years of experience programming in C, Rust, or Python
  • 4+ years of experience full Software Development Life Cycle (Requirements, design, develop, and verify)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience developing software per applications programming interfaces (APIs) to open standards and design practices
  • 2+ year experience of developing Integrated Modular Avionics software including device drivers, per aircraft interface standards such as ARINC 653
  • 2+ years of experience developing software for embedded systems, using one or more real-time operating systems (RTOS). Experience with Wind River VxWorks or any version of Linux is preferred, but general understanding of an RTOS is acceptable (other applicable RTOS experience includes but is not limited to DDC-I Deos or Green Hills Software Integrity)
  • Experience with agile software development
  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Typical Education/Experience:

Experienced (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Relocation:

Summary pay range for Mid-Level: $96,900.00 – $151,800.00

Summary pay range for Senior: $113,900.00 – $177,100.00
