Job Description
Owner of Data Science, Business Intelligence and Analytics product/s and defines the product vision/strategy and monitors financial performance of the product, making changes as needed to drive revenue and profit growth. Develops and implements product strategies that fit with the company vision. Creates and implements product road maps. Leads product development and innovation to drive growth and product differentiation. Maximizes product performance through partnership with cross-functional support teams.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- PRODUCT ROADMAP: Establish, articulate, and champion the product vision and business value of the product. Collaborate with finance on key business metrics to drive the performance of the brand. Maintain current market analysis to support product ideation or updates to existing product line up. Assess product trends compared to historical performance and current goals, and identify gaps and developmental needs. Collaborate with Sales, Client Marketing, & Innovation Team on Evolution/Innovation/Disruption solutions of existing brands. Develop action plans with timelines and support requirements in order to implement product improvements. Report on product performance and innovation to internal and external audiences. Develop product-level goals and financial forecasts for short and long term.
- PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & INNOVATION: Lead implementation of product development/changes by defining and managing detailed project plans; and lead cross-functional teams in meeting key project milestones. Proactively educate internal stakeholders on changing product requirements and strategic goals to drive action. Collaborate with Pricing teams to optimize rate, margin, and functionality. Anticipate training requirements in order to prepare internal teams. Create conceptual workflows and collaborate to integrate product requirements and support expectations into the cross-functional work stream. Coordinate financial changes into product P&L.
- PRODUCT REVENUE Work with Sales to drive to revenue & profit targets, identifying category and client opportunities and suggesting selling strategies. Partner with Sales and Marketing to understand marketplace needs and identify product gaps and opportunities. Provide sales with insights to support sales growth. Work with Sales Enablement to optimize training & product insights within the sales organization. Develop marketing plans and work with Marketing to design and produce sales collateral, PR, solution stories, and industry thought leadership in support of the product. Work with Finance on pricing promotions, as needed.
- PRODUCT PROFIT/RESULTS Partner with MDT and Manufacturing to enhance performance delivery and streamline client engagements with your brand. Actively collaborate on Evolution/Innovation/Disruption solutions that will lower costs and increase profits. Work with internal teams to understand the voice of the customer and ensure product ROI and efficacy with clients and consumers. Develop product requirements and service level agreements with support teams. Use product insights to identify problems, working with leader to resolve customer or internal production and delivery concerns.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
- In lieu of the above education requirements, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
EXPERIENCE
- 5 – 7 years Knowledge of promotional practices and purposes, media planning, selling, account management, and/or agency experience (Required)

- Understanding of client vertical industries and issues
- Thorough knowledge of company internal workings (or capable to quickly obtain) – including products and processes – Understanding of the Valassis product process from inception to delivery. In-depth knowledge of standard capabilities; ability to create recommend and validate custom options and capabilities In-depth knowledge and understanding of data, targeting, and analytics methodologies

Additional Information
Salary: $100,000 – $120,000
Position is eligible for an annual bonus incentive program.
The ultimate compensation offered for the position will depend upon several factors such as skill level, cost of living, experience, and responsibilities.
