We are seeking a talented, versatile product manager to help us envision and build Edutopia.org and related product initiatives. This is a brand-new role and an opportunity to be part of a lean, hands-on team. You will work collaboratively with team members to develop and scale our website and related digital services. This position will manage improvements to automate and personalize the user experiences across all channels, while mapping out additional features and benefits for account subscribers. You will report to the chief content and product officer.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with the chief content and product officer, head of analytics and marketing, engineering-, and UX teams to define and write specifications, including creating wireframes, defining flows, and conducting user tests when appropriate
- Manage execution of projects and define product roll-out strategy
- Be the point person with external engineers to confirm the team understands the vision and strategy; write detailed tickets including conditional logic, ensure deliverables are met on time and budget
- Break down and prioritize the work into a backlog; self-manage tasks and tickets assigned
- Define KPIs and OKRs for product success and track and report their progress
- Establish user feedback cycles; partner with team members to plan and run customer research sessions
- Facilitate meetings and workshops to help drive team momentum
Requirements
At a minimum, you have at least 2 years of product management experience and you must come from a content background i.e. newspapers, magazines, big publishers, or anything content-heavy. You have experience with automated publishing processes and content personalization, or a willingness to dive in and learn about them. You’re willing to run the gamut from the creation of wireframes to user testing to the creation of strategic roadmaps. We function like a startup environment, so you need to be able to operate in ambiguity and wear a lot of hats. You’re proactive and excited about the prospect of being on a lean team. This role is much more front-end focused (user experience on the site) than back-end, but it’s also a total package deal…so, you really need to be able to execute on end-to-end product management.
Please note: We’re open to candidates with different levels of experience. You might be a seasoned product manager with 10+ years experience who is interested in working on Edutopia’s mission to transform education, and you might be earlier in your career (say 2+ years of demonstrated media product management experience, but with exceptional capacity).
