SUMMARY
As a Product Manager, you will represent the needs of the market and VUE business stakeholders in creating and executing a vision for your product area. In this leadership position you will be responsible for end-to-end product management of your key service area products throughout the various stages of the product life cycle. You will provide strategic direction, guide teams, monitor results and drive change. You will also act as an externally facing brand ambassador by meeting frequently with clients and by promoting thought leadership in customer meetings and industry events.
SCOPE AND IMPACT OF JOB
In this role, you will create and improve products that provide breathtaking high stakes testing service to VUE customers. You will be responsible for owning a set of products, understanding current and future needs, defining development roadmaps, owning the product backlog, prioritizing requests, and collaborating constantly with clients, internal stakeholders and agile development teams.
As the Product Manager for Registration & Scheduling, you will be responsible for holistically understanding an increasingly diverse test taker population across global markets. You will ensure Pearson VUE supports fully inclusive Registration and Scheduling experiences that are seamless across multiple applications. And you will improve internal tools and workflows so that we can enhance the efficiency of our support teams. This role will partner with development, operations, and other cross-functional areas to execute this vision.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science discipline or equivalent technical work experience required.
- Business or technical professional with a minimum of 3-5 years product management or business analysis, customer management, and/or technology implementations experience.
- Extensive experience with requirement elicitation, requirements documentation, and requirements management.
- Direct customer interface experience (working with clients directly on project tasks; managing client expectations).
- Proven ability to quickly learn new business domains and technical applications.
- Experience in computer-based testing, certification, and licensing industry preferred.
- Extensive experience with software development of client-server, web-based, data warehousing, reporting, or similar systems.

- Voice of Customer (VOC) – understanding customer challenges through first-hand discussions and translating these into clearly understandable problems for development teams to solve.
- Road mapping – develops ‘evergreen’ multi-year product plans with roadmaps created from input from customers, technology teams and internal stakeholders.
- Can map out existing processes and re-imagine a future state that changes the process map to solve customer pain points in alternative and creative ways.
- Results-focused with an ability to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways.
- Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
- Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of the area of specialization.
- Recommends improvements to policies and established procedures.
- Strong technical thinking, analytical, and conceptualization skills.
- Ability to provide technical alternatives, recommend solutions, and participate in implementation.
- Ability to assimilate information and distill knowledge within time constraints.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct Voice of Customer market and internal research to deeply understand stakeholder needs
- Manages an enhancement request process to identify work of high business value.
- Creates and maintains a product backlog reflecting both value and business and technology strategy.
- Prioritizes work for a product engineering team.
- Works with business and product engineering leadership to quantify the benefits and understand how to prioritize enhancements.
- Conveys goals and product requirements for enhancements and new development.
- Uses various input and analysis to report progress against goals.
- With Business Analysts, assists with the elaboration of the user stories.
- Participates in agile work planning meetings and retrospectives.
- Conduct Voice of Customer market and internal research to deeply understand stakeholder needs.
- Develops and maintains the Product Roadmap for assigned portfolio area
- Creates product vision for new product initiatives.
- Coordinates release planning with other Product Leader and other Product Managers for cross-product initiatives.
- Works with Product Leader to translate high level strategy product direction into work breakdown and prioritization for the backlog.
- Works with VUE Customer Experience team to develop personas supporting usability and user-centered design.
- Collaborates with the Business Solutions team during pre-sale activities and convert client launch requirements into backlog items.
- Represents the product roadmap to Clients.
- Represents VUE in industry conferences, gather competitive intel and new market needs.
- Represents the business to the engineering team; answer questions and provides direction.
- Represents the product to the internal stakeholders; answers questions about the product and provides inputs to our operational support roles.
Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
The minimum full-time salary range is between $85,000 – $100,000.
