The employment opportunity for the Product Manager role in Trane Rental Services (TRS) is an opportunity to lead product line strategies for the rental portfolio, across North America for Commercial HVAC at Trane Technologies. The product manager is responsible for strategy, cross-functional team leadership, life-cycle management, multigenerational product plans, new product development programs, commercialization, customer research, and go-to market strategy. The product manager will be responsible and held accountable for meeting or exceeding product line revenue targets, growing market share, and expanding margins.
You must possess a blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work integrally with engineering, marketing, operations teams, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and customer focus. You will also serve as the internal and external product champion and spokesperson for your product offering, especially working with the sales channel to develop pricing strategy and work with key customers to maximize value delivery. You must have excellent communication skills and be seeking a highly visible opportunity to grow and develop along a leadership track within a leading, diversified industrial company.
Responsibilities:
- Manage value proposition, price / volume and share expectations for various product lines within the TRS portfolio
- Develop commercialization plans including sales and technical outreach for sales offices
- Lead product development teams to ensure customer and business needs are met, and business cases are fulfilled
- Analyze market trends, technology trends, and the potential impact and/or benefits to your product(s) and the business
- Create and defend business cases to justify investments for new offering developments
- Conduct voice of customer activities to identify business, customer, and user needs based on stakeholder interviews, focus groups, “day-in -the-life” studies, and advisory panels. Represent the needs of end customers, controls and service business in all activities
- Author market and product requirements to capture user and business needs in the form of use cases, functionality expectations, performance requirements, and system interactions
- Perform detailed analysis of competitive products, creates SWOT analysis and competitive summaries for use by sales teams and executive management
- Provide selling strategies and product training
- Prepare inventory and revenue forecasts
- Strong negotiation and communication skills at all levels of the organization
- Deliver results. Exceed expectations of internal and external customers
- Ability to work regularly and dependably in a team environment
- Some travel required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in strategic marketing and phase gate product development processes
- Bachelor’s degree required; a Technical, Scientific, or Engineering degree preferred
- 5 years or more HVAC experience in a technical or Product Management role
- Strong computer skills required
- Ability to retrieve data and perform data analysis with SQL based tools is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of finance and return on investment metrics
- Highly effective team player able to develop and sustain an extraordinary level of team commitment and ownership
- Self-motivated, high energy, team participant with the ability to initiate, lead and sustain change activities
- Desire and willingness to be held accountable for business results
- Positive attitude and above average group presentation skills required
- Ability to cope with stress and maintain a pleasant and cooperative temperament with internal and external customers
- Proven self-starter and self-finisher
Base Salary for this role is $90,000-$140,000
