Overview

The Production Manager is responsible for the overall production activities of the Wintrust Arena & Arie Crown Theatre. Coordinates all aspects of physical production of events. Assures excellence in production operations and in upkeep of production technology.

This role will pay a salary of $70,000 to $100,000.

McCormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America., With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.

Responsibilities

  • Advances and coordinates production aspects of all events and activities
  • Maintains files and records of all current and historic projects, productions and events.
  • Provides an advanced level of expertise in all aspects of technical theatre production including but not limited to lighting, audio, projections, rigging and flys, and scenic elements.
  • Produces clean and presentable floor plans, layouts and light plots utilizing CAD technology.
  • Meets and works with clients and prospects to determine needs, suggest methods, creates production budget for crew costs and rentals, and provide advice toward producing state of the art events within reasonable budgets.
  • Negotiates for and procures production equipment and services from rental companies.
  • Manages both IATSE and other union labor
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with production vendors and service providers.
  • Manages the production department in a manner that reflects the highest standards of respect, professionalism and customer service.
  • Helps formulate policies relating to production services and implements those policies.
  • Demonstrates a talent for amicable problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Attends regular staff meetings and generally participates as a management team member.
  • Serves as manager on duty for selected events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or Combination of Educations and work experience
  • 5+ years in Event Production
  • Experience working with both IATSE and other labor unions
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of production technology, including demonstrable expertise in either sound reinforcement or performance lighting.
  • Training or experience in audio and visual systems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Excellent people skills.
  • A passion for events and the ability to provide excellence in their production.
