The Division of Investigative and Forensic Services encompasses all law enforcement and forensic components residing within the Department of Financial Services. With this broad responsibility, the division investigates a wide range of fraudulent and criminal acts including:
- Insurance Fraud Investigations
- Workers’ Compensation Fraud Investigations
- Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations
- Theft/Misuse of State Funds

The base salary for this position is $45,308.76 annually.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position has responsibilities involving procedures adopted by the Department, Division, and Bureau. The procedures are part of the internal control structure used to provide reasonable assurance that objectives are met. This position shall use, comply with, and, if needed, improve these controls and procedures in the performance of duties within the Office of Fiscal Integrity.
This position assists the program manager in accomplishing the Chief Financial Officer’s constitutional and statutory duties of accounting for and maintaining the integrity of state funds. This includes utilizing knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices in the analysis and review of allegations of fraud, theft, or misappropriation of state funds, as well as participation on investigative teams.
Under the direct supervision of the Fiscal Integrity Lieutenant:
Works as an OFI team member, providing accounting and auditing expertise, during OFI investigations-traveling when required-in various areas of responsibility within the Department of Financial Services’ jurisdiction to include:
- Reconciles accounts in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or other comprehensive basis of accounting.
- Analyzes or audits financial records to identify irregularities or illegal activities.
- Performs complex financial analysis to determine trends and identify causes and results.
- Analyzes and documents accounting and administrative controls and procedures.
- Audits or analyzes complex financial statements and exhibits.
- Prepares reports to reflect the results of audit work or analysis.
- Participates as a team member in conducting investigative interviews.
Provides assistance on behalf of the Department in the area of financial investigations involving economic (white collar) crime, to other state criminal investigative agencies and state prosecutors, traveling when required.
Assists supervisor by:
- Providing professional accounting and auditing advice.
- Providing expertise regarding initial case planning.
- Providing briefings regarding on-going reviews and audits.
- Providing prosecution case preparation at the conclusion of investigations.
Handles other duties as required.
