What You Will Do
The LANL National Security Education Center (NSEC) is looking for three creative and experienced program professionals to support institutes within the NSEC. We are looking for people who demonstrate initiative, professionalism, creativity, flexibility, and outstanding customer service skills. You must also be an excellent problem solver, anticipating challenges or obstacles and resolving them with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will work independently and as a team member in support of a Center, Institute, or Program within the National Security Education Center. Specific duties can include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as a key point of contact for a National Security Education Center (NSEC) center, institute or program; communicate professionalism with customers, including graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, administrators, scientists and managers.
- Support internal and external institutional collaborations and university interactions through a variety of mechanisms including meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences, visitor and guest agreements, Joint Appointment arrangements, and inter-laboratory and university subcontracts.
- Support the needs of your center, institute, or program by providing high-level administrative support in a busy environment which could require policy and document management, procurement, meeting scheduling/logistics, webpage maintenance, and facility service request management.
- Research, compose, design and prepare non-routine correspondence, reports, presentations, metrics, and special projects; interact with technical staff and editors on scientific publications; and perform other administrative duties as needed.
- Act as a resource in developing and in providing input on changes to budgets, policies, processes, procedures, and guidelines related to specialized functions, organizations and/or programs.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a high-pressure office requiring occasional extended work hours and offsite travel.
- Actively contribute to a collaborative team environment, working closely with other professional staff and administrators through cross-training, coaching and mentoring methods.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Professional Support
Experience developing and maintaining systems to track and convey information on multiple projects and tasks to a variety of audiences.
Experience with conducting research and analyzing problems, developing and implementing solutions, and innovating business practices to ensure customer and sponsor satisfaction.
Demonstrate knowledge in business operations across the Laboratory, or an equivalent institution, and the ability to make recommendations to problems affecting business.
Business Systems
Experience with standard business applications such as Microsoft applications, WebEx, Google Workspace, MS Teams, SharePoint, Adobe applications, etc.
Communication and Event Management
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills while interacting effectively with people throughout the organization hierarchy and in partnership with internal support organizations. Grammatical proficiency, formatting, and editing capabilities expected at this level.
Coordinate logistics, scheduling, announcements, and administrative facilitation of business, operational, and/or programmatic meetings and/or conferences.
Experience organizing logistics and providing direct support for meetings and events with a broad spectrum of participants.
Serve as point of contact and liaison with customers and sponsors as well as with senior management offices and personnel regarding issues and policies related to the program.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
LANL Systems
Proficiency in multiple Laboratory-wide business systems (e.g., Oracle, Concur, Foreign Travel Systems, Visitor and Guest Agreements, Subcontracts and iProcurement, etc.).
Website Creation and Maintenance
Experience with both creating content for organization websites as well as creating and editing website pages. LANL Web Content Management System experience preferred but not required.
BudgetExperience with creating and/or managing budgets is preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos New Mexico. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
