Professional Systems Administrator (Windows, MS Exchange, Customer Service)

As a Professional Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
  • Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
  • Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
  • Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
  • Nature of Contribution- Fully functioning technical professional. Develops new concepts, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge – Subject matter expert within own discipline/ specialty area. Applies specialized knowledge of discipline/specialty area standards and processes to work. Integrates company experience and deep technical knowledge and has advanced understanding of select AT&T technologies, systems and/or procedures.
  • Analysis and Problem Solving – Solves non-routine problems based on analysis of multiple factors. Independently identifies key issues, patterns, or deviations from norm. Works on problems requiring judgment and in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Analyzes and interprets research to evaluate and recommend solutions.
  • Independence – Guided by team goals and operational objectives. Applies judgment to determine appropriate processes and technical area standards to use and provides technical direction to others in own work area.
  • Contribution to AT&T Technology – Key contributor on diverse projects of moderate scope. Recommends new procedures and processes to drive desired results.
  • Communication- Explains advanced technical information to less experienced team members. Provides specialized technical guidance to others in work area. Builds productive internal/external relationships and collaborates with others in own team or across teams.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience
  • Strong administration skills on Windows, MS Exchange and Customer Service
  • Knowledge of UNIX (Solaris, AIX, HPUX, Windows, Linux)
  • Understanding of Change Management Life Cycle Principles
  • System Support and Trouble Analysis skills (root cause analysis, alarm management platforms, troubleshooting, etc.)
  • First level vendor certifications

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of call processing
  • Server & System Administration skills
  • Knowledge of Analysis Tools (Access 7, GeoProbe, GSTool, RCATS)
  • Hardware installation and repair skills
  • Knowledge of OSI network protocol design
  • Hardware/software skills necessary to support the telephony/voice infrastructure (Aspect, Avaya, Cisco, Nortel)
  • Knowledge of Configuration, Backup, and Restoral processes necessary to support the telephony/voice infrastructure.
  • Experience using and writing technical documentation.
  • High level vendor certifications (i.e., CCNA)
